Review: Fang Su - Disparate EP

Coming from Bowling Green, USA, we have Fang Su with his first instrumental EP release. The musician created and recorded every single sound in his bedroom and played the keyboards, synthesizers, piano and percussion. With influences that range from Siouxsie Sioux to Utada Hikaru and James Brown, Fang Su had darkness and melodicness on his mind when he dived into the creative process of this four track EP.

The first one is “Disparate” itself, a track that introduces us to a synthetic bass with strings attached and a whole set of percussion that kind of hypnotize the listener. And so it begins! “Voodoo Soup”, the second track of the EP, is that kind of gem that pushes us into a satanic ritual, on which the percussion plays the main role. Next, we have “Abnormality”, synths, pianos and the inevitable percussion, the trademark of this EP. And so, “It Ends” is the final track title. Now the drums take the place of the percussion, the bass and guitar take the main role and suddenly we see ourselves at a jazz jam around a campfire. And so… it ends this astonishing release, contagious music that you don’t want to miss!
