Review: M. Cross Dougherty - Fuse

Mark Dougherty has a very rich career in music. The North Carolina-based multi-instrumentalist and producer released two albums on the Lost Cat Records label, created the band Lake Isle, which has an EP and a long-play in its repertoire and it is later on that he develops a particular taste for FM synthesis, looping techniques, sampling, and analog production. It is in this new stage of his artistic path that he releases, in 2019, the single "I Paint My Picture / Mind of Impermanence" and now brings us "Fuse".

We can easily find similarities in the three songs that M. Cross Doughtery has made available to the public so far. The word "ethereal" is perhaps the one that most quickly comes to my mind. Celestial and angelic are other adjectives that I can also find there. "Fuse" makes us close our eyes and puts a long, wide smile on our faces. It is a meditative track that was constructed with manipulated samples and FM synthesis. An astonishing piece of electronic ambient music, just like the previous tracks that M. Cross Dougherty has put out. I definitely will want to hear more about you, Mr. Dougherty!
