Interview: Rokita - Cranial Euphoria

Rokita is an original Michigander, and the stars have finally aligned to allow him to bring you music the way that he has been inspired by music. His main purpose is to create original rock-style music that inspires and makes people ‘feel good’ after listening. With music, he has a chance to have a positive influence on people, and for him, that is very important. Being the sole artist (singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and recorder), it allows him the creativity and flexibility to create and express music the way he has envisioned it without constraints.

Kamil) Hey Rokita, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

I always had a love for music when I was growing up. I was never good at singing or any instruments but was a more of a computer nerd and had a knack for doing arrangements and recording of music. After doing some work for a few independent artists I dropped out of the music scene for some years until I started singing and then just decided that now is my opportunity to do the thing that I love most.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

There are many artists that I would like to collaborate with, but I think it would be cool to do a rock song with Shakira. Maybe put a little Spanish and English in the mix. Yeahhh.

Your latest song is 'Cranial Euphoria'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

This song is all about music and how it gives you that great feeling after listening to your favorite song(s). For me the Lyrics are very important, so I wanted to make sure I do this song justice by spending the extra time to get that magical rhyming sequence throughout the song.

What are you focusing on right now?

More original songs! I want to keep the style of each song unique and fresh and yet keep with the inspirational style of music.

What are you most proud of?

It’s been about 1 year since I started as a music artist, and I am proud to have released some great music during this time that are only getting better with each release.

What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

The two big challenges as an artist are: First finding the right team to get the music to a ‘Radio Ready’ level. This was a big struggle early on and a big learning curve. Getting the music out there and getting constructive feedback was very important early on to improve every aspect of the production. Many times, I had to re-record and or re-mix many of the songs to get them to a decent quality. Second is learning the whole online social media aspect to promote and distribute Music/Videos.

How do you structure your day?

I am a family man so much of my day is spent with my family and my day job. Working on music comes when I get spare time, and recording is done at night in the basement when it is quiet.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

Ice hockey has been my go-to sport for many years. This keeps me in shape and keeps the mind sharp.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

Actually, I do not sing in the shower. I sing in the car travelling to and from work. This allows me to practice the songs that I am working on.

What are your plans for the future?

To keep making great songs is my top priority! My plan is to make music full time once I get well established as an artist which I do not anticipate taking very long.
