Lost In Transmission 5: 18/12/15

Words by Giedre Zaveckaite

And so this is my debut Lost in Transmission playlist, although I have been wanting to do it for a while. I’ll start with 18-year-old South Londoner Jude Woodhead and his striking debut track ‘Beautiful Rain’. A beautifully mesmerising simplicity and vibrant energy exists throughout the track and gives a different experience on every listen.

The next tune will surely get you through these wintry months. Labradoor and their sun-kissed tropical pop track ‘The Sleep’ has a summery, flighty feel to it. Keep an eye on this space and see them live at The Finsbury at the end of January. Still in denial of winter, EPISODES offer rescue with their fruitfully experimental indie-pop single ‘Hunny Please’, which will stay on repeat for a little while, I promise. Carrying on with the sun theme, we’ve got a pop-rock band from Reading, HAIZE, and their debut track ‘Solar’. With deliciously sounding guitars and banging drums it is teasingly catchy yet sounds epic. Can’t wait to hear more from these 18-year-old lads.

To finish off I’ve got CHILDCARE and their extremely catchy single ‘Omega Grey'. The endless guitar thrumming, bad-ass drumming and wave-like singing will have you hooked for a while. If you get a chance, do yourself a favour and see them live, the frontman Ed gives hugely entertaining and theatrical performances.
