LITM Singer-Songwriter Picks This Week: Talia Grace and more!

This week’s edition of LITM Singer-Songwriter Picks features pieces from Talia Grace, and more!

Talia Grace - “Lavender Latte”

A Los Angeles native immersed in music from childhood, Talia Grace’s journey began at seven with piano lessons, evolving into live performances with siblings by nine and a passion for songwriting by 12— and over the years, her sound’s been getting better— finally manifesting in “Lavender Latte”, a heartfelt pop ballad that brings the true quality of her voice and has it on full display. Talia’s skills in harmony and composition shine through brilliantly here, with her lyrics, too, retaining emotive impact, growing in tandem with the instruments in the background. All in all, a delightful listen! Check it out here:

Mascara Wizard - “elderberry”

Unafraid of experimenting with acid-jazz synths and experimental sound textures in their sound, Mascara Wizard bring their latest single, “elderberry”; forming part of their album, “Sunbathing In The Valley of Death”, the whole song is a very distinctive  mix of elements— going all the way from bleeding-edge avant-garde experimental electronic, to soft, welcoming vocal harmonies, woodwinds, and gently strummed guitars. It is a sound beyond description, really, until you listen to it once— and then you do so, again. All in all, delightful execution, and a concept that amazes. Take a listen here!

Christin Hyshka - “Something That I Can Believe”

A Canadian folk roots troubadour, Christin Hyshka hones his sound weaving tales of grit and hope through his heartfelt, honest music. Influenced by the evocative storytelling of Neil Young, Dylan, and Steve Earle, Christin’s latest track, “Something That I Can Believe” is a showcase of merry harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and gentle instrumentation. The lyrics are thought-provoking, conveying messages of seeking hope and light at the end of the tunnel— and evoke strong emotions within the listener, while the ensemble gently soundtracks their introspection.
