UK-based Brit indie rockers The Amber Bugs recently released their latest single “Based on a True Story” on the 8th of September 2023. This track is a wonderful melting pot of genres and styles that lead to an utterly mesmerising and transcendent auditory experience that is not quite like any other. Full of mood and evoking strong emotions this song is a journey through and through.
This song is a bit of a slow burn that slowly builds in energy and complexity as it progresses ultimately peaking right before it ends and leaving you with a feeling that can only be described as having your breath taken away from you because you were so captivated by what you were listening to. The soundscape on this song is literally perfect, with a piano-heavy opening that really lets the vocals shine and as you listen you slowly find yourself getting into the groove. You then start to notice subtle inclusions of instruments into the ambience with brass and orchestral features. The entire time you are also invested in the the singing and the story they are telling you. This song really kicks it into high gear and reaches utterly dizzyingly tall peaks around the two-minute mark with a smooth transition into an explosion of energy with violins, drums, vocals as well as synths and pianos dancing an intricate ballet arrangement that is simply pure ecstasy to listen to.
