Rock rises in nuanced tones and styles in this week's LITM Rock Picks from artists like Larches, Mat Hook and more!

In this edition of LITM Rock Picks, rock is revived through ephemeral tones from artists like Larches, Monroe Moon, Soda Cracker Jesus, Mat Hook and The Rolling People. Listen to the songs here and figure out your perfect rock playlists with these incredible additions!

Larches-Vessels

The solo project of Jacob Cona, this is a music ideology coming to fruition. With songs that incite emotion and yet explore the trenches of rock and pop rock etc, this is a tonal excursion. Vessels is a distortion laced fairytale, and a lot is heard in the layers within. The song has the transitions and melodic harmonic additions that come like a bonus gift along with the rhythm. The percussive feel and style also keep varying between songs, and that is where this artists' character is exemplified. Listen to the beautiful composition here and rifle though the containers of Larches music:

Monroe Moon-Smoked a Cigarette Instead

This rock band doesn’t want the same suggestive and mind-numbing rock lyrics that have plagued the radios for long. They have a new texture and feel to their songs, and they are proud to showcase it. Their latest is a tad psychedelic, even if it drowns in parts, it bobs back in others. The sounds are soothing, decorated with minimal harmonics and brings the chorus straight to you. The duo of Bunny Monroe and Theo Malkin are here to change the styles of rock you listen to, and know how to manipulate tones with deft skill. Listen to their song here:

Soda Cracker Jesus-Might Need a Gun

With a name like that, you better hope you pump out some memorable music. Soda Cracker Jesus are redefining garage, bringing the same old bluesy sound but with a completely new outlook. The opening riff of Might Need a Gun is enough to reinforce that idea. Regan Lane wants you to really feel this groove, so all the layers come and prop it up on a gattling gun's stand. There is an intrinsic punch you’re waiting for, a foot tapping delight that you know will soon be a part of your playlist. Listen to the single:

Mat Hook-Alone You Go

Mat might be responsible for what is a youth anthem in the following years. Very few artists have been able to resonate with entire generations with their music, and yet be true to the self. Alone You Go is a refreshing single, bringing to light courage, brevity and the want to change and progress. It is a poem of strength, and Mat Hook finds the perfect melodies to make this something people will remember forever. Listen to his single here and follow him for more:

The Rolling People-Grateful for Nothing

Smokey, swirling guitar tones and polished wood carvings are felt with the warm timbre of The Rolling People. Not quite like the Stones, these guys are a step ahead in the rock that means something to them. Grateful for Nothing is that nihilistic view amplified, though I’m sure they’re grateful for those instruments. There is an inward voice that makes their sound such a signature field trip of melodies, poetry and thought cycles. The song is a rocking single, and a perfect way to close out our list this week:
