The Horn Bring Us Masterful Synth and Acoustic Driven Brit-Rock On Their Debut Album “People Like Us”!

UK-based rocker Nick True as well as his band The Horn have burst onto the scene with their debut album “People Like Us”, and with it, they have made a bold and powerful statement about the musical wizardry they bring to the table. With a musical past filled with star-studded collaborations such as REM to the Clash, this Baker St band hones in their time and experience as well as musical talents to craft a 10-track classic rock curation that is sure to be iconic!

Opening on “Do It Now”, you are immediately given a taste for the musical style and world of rock you are about to be immersed in, as this track does an excellent job at introducing you to this album and The Horn in general. You will find many familiar themes in this track's soundscape such as the well-balanced and modern production and the synth-driven soundscape. Second, in line for this album is “Another Way” which carries on the themes and sounds that “Do It Now” brought us and it acts as a stable bridge to the first sonic departure on this album “Too Many Moments”. The third track on this album takes a distinctly more acoustic and folk-driven style to its soundscape and more than justifies its status as one of the singles off this album. “Passion” and “Addicted to Love” close out the first half of this album and these songs sit thematically close to each other with one being a sultry exploration of lustful themes driven by clean electric guitars and the other being a warm exploration of love with acoustic accoutrements. The sixth track of this album and the title track of this album is “People Like Us” and it continues and builds upon the themes and styles that have been established in the first half of this album. “50 Years (I’d Like to Change The World)” is a sombre and downtempo reflection of the current state of our world rich with social commentary in its songwriting and is my personal favourite off this album. “Always Late” and “Power Show” take us back to a Brit-rock sound after the acoustic masterpieces that you would have been used to at this point of your listening, leading us to “Department of Fate” which closes out this experience.

The Horn has crafted a cohesive and well-flowing listening album throughout its runtime which is an achievement of its own as this album has eight singles. Each of the songs is a wonderful revolution of sounds independently but together they form an experience quite unlike anything else. For a debut album, The Horn has nailed “People Like Us” and you will no doubt join us in our excitement to see what they put out next once you go give this album a listen!
