Decadent Heroes - The Dragon
With a sound that is so very reminiscent of the eighties rock scene, ‘The Dragon’ by Decadent Heroes does without words what many songs are not able to do with plenty of words. With powerful, soaring, restless guitars standing out as the star of the elaborate instrumentation, the song is bound to be liked by all those who enjoy a good guitar playing. Steadying, grounding drum patterns, and a solid bassline are among the other primary instruments in the song that write its story through musical notes. Straying from the conventionality of lyrics, this song stands in a league of its own.
Lurcher - Ortenburg
Starting off with a bassline that is telling of all the exciting arrangements that are about to come, ‘Ortenburg’ by Lurcher stands out from most of the music of today owing to its bold sound. The track takes on a haunting, gothic sound – a sound that is hard to come by in today’s music, where most are trying to stick to the notes. The instrumentation is actually really simple, and it uses the same arrangements in different paces to create that disconcerting, haunting effect. The howling, screaming vocals are reminiscent of metal bands that were unafraid of putting it all out there.
Amateur Ornithologist - Swing Around
Starting off in a rather theatrical way that will make you think you are watching a haunting musical, ‘Swing Around’ by Amateur Ornithologist will have you intoxicated to its dark, broody, mysterious atmosphere. The instrumentation involves many different layers, layers you do not usually get to hear in rock. Piano progressions that ground the haunting effect of the song, and other string instruments aside from the guitar, and the driving drum patterns, give the song lush and heavy textures that make it a great sonic experience. With haunting atmospheres and amazingly arranged music, this song stands as an immediate must-listen kind of song.
Block - I Thought I Won The War
With shimmering acoustic guitar playing starting off the track, ‘I Thought I Won The War’ by Block will have you obsessed with its lovely mix of playful and honest tones. The instrumentation shifts around in its tones, as it moves from being fun and playful to broody and mysterious and then back to square one again. This gives the song a full life of its own. Lyrically, the war alludes to the war that love is, where you may be left feeling battered and bruised and raising up the white flag. Give it a listen , and be rest assured you are going to love it.
Tcr! - Yesterday Blurs
Capturing the riot of love, ‘Yesterday Blurs’ by Tcr! comes to you with a psych rock sound that pays tribute to the yesteryears while undoubtedly having a flavour entirely its own. The instrumentation emerges from within a hypnotic sound, with its pounding drums, a trance-like guitar work that might just put you on a path to momentary transcendence. The bass guitar work in the song is also truly phenomenal, and makes you think of Led Zeppelin. The blunt delivery of the vocals also contributes to the eerie, hypnotic sound that remains clinging to your auditory senses long after the last note has run out.
