Dalinda - The Nile
Haunting guitars and an enigmatic percussion pattern starting off the track, ‘The Nile’ by Dalinda is as ethereal as it is spine-chilling. The instrumentation chases a mysterious, otherworldly, hypnotic sound that sort of sets you in a trance-like state,with its consistently sombre sounding, haunting guitar playing and light but steady percussion. The simplicity and consistency in the instrumentation allows the focus to be on Dalinda’s vocals, which are simply breath taking. They are skilful, of course, but besides skill they are brimming with an energy, an intoxicating, all-consuming energy. You simply have to listen to the track to know what we are talking – this is one rare sonic experience.
Vera DOLL - Men Are Disgusting
With a bright, vibrant pop sound driving the song, ‘Men Are Disgusting’ by Vera DOLL is a sharp, but fun commentary on the most men that we find around us these days. The instrumentation is energetic and magnetic, with fast paced, upbeat synths and percussion, and they move up and down based on the sequence of the song. The vocals sound honey-sweet but they are filled with that tone of irony and sarcasm. The song will remind you of Sabrina Carpenter’s recent discography, which also has music with bright pop sounds and sharp, edgy lyrics that take a dig at men.
Even In Darkness - On Hold
Dreamy and groovy in a laid back manner, ‘On Hold’ by Even In Darkness makes you feel like you’re drifting away and escaping on a dreamboat to a world of swirling colours and fireflies. The instrumentation has been delicately arranged, with layers coming together in a manner that entirely strays away from monotony. The song keeps its sound exciting and interesting throughout its course, as the synths and beats reinvent themselves at every turn. The song might remind you of Tame Impala’s music and also of those indie-pop songs that you find in coming-of-age films that make it all seem so dreamy.
