1. Jared Bond- AlgoRhYtHm

Adopting a quirky tone from the get-go, ‘AlgoRhYtHm’ takes you through the motions of a late-stage capitalist world. In his latest indie rock escapade, Jared Bond has managed to craft an engaging hook that’s contrasted with the leisurely delivery of the vocal tracks. It feels like we, as viewers, are watching the scenes play out in real life; with the theme being centred around the increasing commodification of everyday life, lyrics like “you become what you consume” absolutely stay with you. The alternative-infused track brings in a dissonant, mild buzz with its distorted guitars and harmonies, doubling down on the grunge element at the end. If you’d like a track that accompanies your daily overthinking, this is a great one!

2. Milan Suta, Abbie Parker- Which Way Do I Go

‘Which Way Do I Go’ feels like an in-between of Paramore and Nightwish or Evanescence in terms of genre and intensity. This track is carried by the undercurrent of crunchy instrumentation and the absolute powerhouse of a lead vocalist, Abbie Parker. It has an anthemic energy that is locked in from the start, building up to a resounding release from a determined buildup, resulting in a soundscape that’s clean as a whistle—complementing the textures of the singer. The lead guitar’s solo is fiery and electric, picking up the same energy from the singer; it's a perfect way to lead the song towards the end.

3. THE NIGHTBIRDS – 2000 Miles

Emerging in the midst of post-punk territory, ‘2000 Miles’ steals the show with its crunchy guitars and high-octane delivery. It’s one of those songs that make you go nuts at a concert and has the potential to strike a chord with the masses. The instrumentation is a consistent buildup with a mildly anxious energy, as the lead vocalist seems almost to be egging the musicians on and hyping them up until they head for the chorus, where the buildup unleashes its confidence. The song is a go-to if you’re looking to amp up yourself or a crowd.

4. Deja Dead- Snapshots

‘Snapshots’ is Deja Dead’s latest alt-rock experiment with a grungy soundscape and great visual storytelling, with the lyrics “Now I’m shaking like a polaroid picture” capturing the vibe. It starts off with an unsuspecting, anticipatory setup—a few hums of instruments, almost like a chromatic aberration—and then it takes the listener through uncharted territory, mysterious and sinister with a sardonic touch of humour. The track sits somewhere within the alt-rock sphere with its grungy, deep atmospheric haze, and the arrangement leaves space for a balance of intensity, resulting in the hard-hitting moments hitting even harder.

5. Bear Jr -  Emotion Ocean

Bear Jr - Emotion Ocean A mix of charming and electric, ‘Emotion Ocean’ by Bear Jr takes on a crackling energy that would light up every corner of the room. The song is like a cathartic walkthrough of the artist's feelings, with the underbed of music unleashing the ‘Emotion Ocean’. The track starts with a few gentle, calming notes until the guitar accompanies the lead vocals, almost like a companion encouraging him from the side. The overall soundscape is energetic, light, and passionate, but also quite catchy! Give it a listen here-
