Venice Trip – a band that my group, Sonitus, once gigged with (not that you needed to know that!) – are a psychedelic-influenced outfit from the exotic lands of London. Their new EP, 'Look Forward', showcases a bold-as-brass youthful exuberance that shines throughout, and in a fancy video format too? Groovy!
The theme of the EP's title track couldn't be more obvious in both song and vision, but this is a glorious sound that truly holds on to your eardrums and makes you listen. The video starts in what seems to be a random hotel room, where the 'boys in the band' are knocked out from the obvious excitement that was the night before (insert implied intoxication here). Enter the music, an excellent mix of old and new, which the listener can't help but tap along feverishly to; it's really cool stuff. The video follows the bromance of the four-piece as the message develops that the journey is more important than the destination.
Musically, the whole, every bit of guitar, vocal, drums, bass etc, is really well executed and quite trippy. 'Look Forward' spreads its loveliness throughout and contains some hugely catchy parts that remain in your head and make you listen more than once – and it's definitely worth doing so again and again.
