White Reaper are a band we’ve been meaning to flag up on Lost In The Manor for some time, but while we’ve been faffing about getting distracted by Chinese stock markets, Nazi royalty and whatnot they’ve only gone and released a bloody album on Polyvinyl. So, not before time here’s the lead track from ‘White Reaper Does It Again’. ‘Make Me Wanna Die’ is a fortifyingly direct slab of melodic rock’n’roll – as if Oasis had been forced to hone their musical chops at CBGB – showcasing an arms-aloft vocal growl that slices through the clattering overdrive while a tremulous Casio-like keyboard sprinkles some incongruous sweetner on top. Originating from the bluegrass state of Kentucky, White Reaper, it could be argued, have remained true to American Roots music, they’ve just put a thousand volts through it and maxed that needle into the red.
