These LITM Pop Picks all approach pop differently, yet with the same allure; featuring Thomas Oshea, Ula, Rellyo Bambini, and more!
1. Thomas OShea – Generation Z
Synthetic and rhythm-forward, Thomas OShea’s Generation Z lands as a punch to everyone that dismisses GenZ as weak, spoiled, or the generation that has things easy. “Boomers got the money, GenX got the new tech / Millennials, they got the brand new internet / Then that leaves me, yeah we get the heat, Generation Z,” he sings, his voice floating in between all the layers of percussion and sharp melody. The track is searing in theme, sound, and delivery – it makes sure you can’t ignore what it has to say, and it makes sure you’re listening. Check it out here!
2. Ula – Corridors
Ula’s Corridors is dark and mysterious in all the right ways, grabbing hold of your attention from the very start and holding it there. Opening her debut EP Boysulk, it clearly shows that Ula is confident and unafraid to experiment and sound different, setting the mood for the remaining four songs of the EP with ease and elegance. It’s surrounding, in a way that songs and artists struggle to find naturally, but she’s done so well. It never lets up to give you a moment of respite – it’s all in, always twisting and turning, keeping you guessing the whole way!
3. Rellyo Bambini – Big Bad Love – Rebirth Edition
Opening Rellyo Bambini’s album, Cloned and Upgraded, Insert Soul Here (Rebirth Edition) comes Big Bad Love – Rebirth Edition, a groovy, rhythmic track that encourages you to move along with it. “In this wild, wild world, you’re the love I saved / Oh, please behave, little red heart in the big bad town / You keep me standing when it’s breaking me down,” sings Rellyo Bambini with conviction and confidence that can only be described as attractive. With lines that run into each other, the whole song carries a fluid, smooth, legato-style sound to it, making it not just a vibey listen, but a deeply satisfying one as well!
4. LeAnn Rimes – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
Right on time for the first week of December comes LeAnn Rimes’ Greatest Hits Christmas, a compilation of… you guessed it, the greatest Christmas hits of all time. Her reimagining of Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree is deeply faithful to the classic original, while somehow still managing to add its own fresh twists, giving it a novel feel – expected, yet appreciated, from an artist who knows their way around music the way Rimes does. Her voice seems tailor-made to sing each song she does, a talent that surely is only refined with experience – listen to it here!
5. FERDINAND RENNIE – The Prayer
The Prayer is FERDINAND RENNIE’s interpretation of the classic of the same name. Rennie’s reimagining feels like you’re listening to him sing in an ornate yet empty hall, slowly gathering more and more voices to sing behind him in a choir-like style, creating the effect of sincerity and earnestness – refreshing in a time where they’re avoided like the plague. It walks the line between feeling fragile and ever-enduring: like an artefact that looks like it’ll crumble under scrutiny, but has survived the test of time regardless. By the time the song ends, it swells with harmonies, strings, and Rennie’s powerful vocals, all of which effortlessly stir something within you.
