This edition of LITM Rock Picks brings to you tracks from MavAngelo and more!
MavAngelo - “Glasslines”
MavAngelo is an artist that “writes music for the spaces between melancholy and release — and on his latest track, “Glasslines”, he presents a soft, downtempo number that gets you shuffling slowly from the very start. The inclusion of blues and jazz elements in the track are a particular standout, while the production is delightfully warm and charismatic. There’s much to appreciate as well about the vocal performance, which has an airy, almost ethereal sound to it — all in all, a track that has something to say, really. NBP Human - “You Know Me”
NBP Human, the artist moniker of composer Balazs Janky, presents an experimental number in their latest single, “You Know Me” — and come this song, the number one thing that grabs your attention is the baritone vocal ensemble, as well as the softly strummed acoustic guitars. As the song gradually evolves in its energy, there’s this beautiful tension building through the verses that resolves rather well into the choruses. The shakers and tambourines keep up rather well, adding some much-appreciated sparkle and flair, serving to round the track out rather well. Check it out here!
Killing Kind - “Humanity”
Killing Kind is a visionary project born in the shadow of the pandemic, exploring humanity’s descent from post-war optimism to modern dystopia through raw, cinematic soundscapes — and on their latest single, “Humanity”, they adopt an industrial rock sound with a slower, more punchy sound — concentrating on raw emotional impact over speed and power. Make no mistake, though, this track still packs a punch with the looming clean electric guitars, paced quite nicely by the drumming ensemble. The energy balance in this track is unmistakable — and easy to be blown away by. Take a listen to the track here!
Sean MacLeod- “Cool Charisma”
Sean MacLeod is a singer and songwriter who’s busy making waves with his latest release, “Cool Charisma” — and the atmosphere of this track is quite something. Bringing an upbeat, energetic vibe to the fore, this track doesn’t spend too long before it starts to make your head bob ever so slightly; the electric guitars and the peppy drumming keep your attention rather well. The pre-chorus and chorus sections are rather well written with tasteful arrangement shifts; and tasteful vocal choirs and layers peppered tastefully in. All in all, a must-not-miss of a track! LESS- “Instead of Making Love (Say Hello)”
Born in Naples in 2001, Less transforms a life of constant change into deeply emotive art, blending raw honesty with psychedelic rock sounds and textures. On her latest track, “Instead of Making Love (Say Hello)”, she creates a vivid fusion of elements that range from easy-listening rock to country elements with the electric guitars; however, to bucket them as either would be wrong. There’s something distinctive, something unique about this sound that makes it a heartwarming number throughout; be it the beautiful vocal performance, or the blend of elements. In a nutshell, there’s much to appreciate this track by — and you should check it out! Listen to it here:
