In this edition of LITM Pop Picks, we have James Zero and more!
James Zero - “HEAVENSENT”
James Zero is a musician who blends rock textures with energetic pop-punk elements; and his latest single, “HEAVENSENT” is no stranger to this sound. Maintaining a thoroughly electric sound from beginning to end, this track has the pep and zest of a good punk track, while coupling it with melodic vocals and tasteful guitars that elevate this track from music to an experience. The video treats you to psychedelic shots, textures, and colors, with the sounds to match with. All in all, this track sure will brighten your day! Check it out here:
Manuel Muzzu M² - “Kosong”
“Kosong” is the latest track by Maniel Muzzu, also known as M²; a bassist by heart, and composer as well, this track is a great display of M²’s musical virtuosity. The brasses set the easygoing vibe of this track rather early on — and as the song progresses, you’re left gently swaying and swinging to the rhythm. The use of vocals as a texture rather than the centerstage is a choice that warrants interest and curiosity — but I’m glad to report that it’s done very beautifully here. All in all, there’s a lot of influences at play here that come together to make this a thoroughly enjoyable listen. Take a listen to the track here!
Jemily Rime - “Angel”
Jemily Rime is a singer and songwriter who presents a soft, delicate sound on her latest single, “Angel” — and from the very start, there’s a quirky, heartwarming guitar riff that draws you in. The soundstage evolves slowly around it, growing wider and wider in a crescendo before resolving beautifully into a chorus that stays with you long after the track’s ended. Beyond the performance, the vocals and the production deserve props for the unique, characteristic sound that this track carries — and I’m a fan! Take a listen to the track here:
Lola Santiago - “Over It”
Carrying a hypnotic soundscape as part of her identity, Lola Santiago is a singer and songwriter that makes you sit up and pay attention. Her latest single, “Over It”, especially — with the bilingual English and Spanish lyrics making for something to enjoy for everyone. Lola effortlessly shows off her vocal range atop a genuinely nasty beat (the good kind) with the low, rumbling basses and the minimal percussion — and the refrain sections are oh-so good! Check out this stick of dynamite here:
Hovercraft - “Anytime”
Blending past and future, Hovercraft’s surviving members resurrect the lost songs in their back catalog in 2025 — and so far, their latest track, “Anytime” off of their album, “On The Rocks”, has been making steady waves. Be it the delightfully 80s-90s Britpop sound or the peppy, fresh vocal performance, this track has something in it for everybody! The guitars and Rhodes pianos play beautifully together to treat your ears to an easy-listening yet well-rounded sound; and we’re fans! Take a listen to the track here:
