Laura Dannan - The Sock Song
Filled with innocence and childlike wonder, ‘The Sock Song’ by Laura Dannan is warm and will no doubt leave in your heart a big ball of light as well. The song has a very unique premise, and is one all of us will relate to. We have more often than not struggled with finding the second sock in a pair, and this song alludes to that universal experience. The songwriting is full of imagery and will have you smiling. The instrumentation is primarily acoustic guitar based and it makes sense to keep it light considering this is a lyric heavy song. Warm and adorable, you and a child could totally jam to this one together.
Timo Schniering - Northern Lights (Acoustic Version)
Shimmering layered acoustic guitars starting off the track, ‘Northern Lights (Acoustic Version)’ by Timo Schniering is all about looking to nature in search of solace. The song is filled with a kind of hope and warmth that can perhaps have a tear or two slide down your cheeks. The instrumentation is lush and yet very light, and allows the vocals to truly shine through. This means that the arrangement choices that went into the track were thought out thoroughly. Without a doubt, this song will be one of the tracks that you will find yourself listening to a solo drive under the night sky.
Scott Walker - This Is What Love Can Feel Like
Scoot Walker’s ‘This Is What Love Can Feel Like’ is a song that embodies the idea of healing and courage in the face of all that has gone wrong. The track is thematically very heavy, as it talks about a girl who had been abused when young because of which she has a fragmented, distorted view of love. But the song builds beautifully upward, as it ends with a girl finally finding someone that changes her idea of love and shows her what it should feel like. The instrumentation in the song is grand in its simplicity. Warm, hopeful, and intimate, this song literally feels like the mending of wounds.
