I was expecting a trap album but I got more than that.

2 E’s 1 Z by Charlee Beatz is a fun trap, rap and hip-hop album that invites any aspiring ambitious rapper to spit some bars over it. The album is only 25 minutes but it does feature some fire beats that align with the sounds currently trending in the rap scene.

After a brief “Prelude,” the bombs start dropping in the form of beats in “33,” followed by “Dumb,” which features some chopped vocals harmonized and edited together. I love it when a producer uses voices as instruments: an example of this might be ROSALÍA’s “LA FAMA” and “LA COMBI VERSACE,” which feature chops of her own voice and Dominican artist Tokischa’s voice. Charlee is doing something similar here.

“Shock Drop” is a slightly darker and mysterious track, while “Goated” (is Charlee copying the title of the homonymous track by Armany White?) conveys tranquillity and serenity, with the main melodic line sounding like dew drops falling from a tree and into a pond.

“Sum New” maintains this sweetness in sounds, and it’s on the softer side of things. “Come Back” still follows this tranquil and serene vibe,m while “None Like You” initially features some sounds that I would describe as animalistic, like the frogs surrounding a pond.

Finally, “Last Call” comes back to that aggressive sound we heard at the beginning with a very prominent melodic line which reigns over everything else.

2 E’s 1 Z is definitely the perfect album to vibe to whether you’re feeling rebellious or peaceful.
