"Music All We Have” is the latest single from indie alternative rock duo SCALLER. It’s a combination of crunchy guitars, melodious and honest vocals, and dynamically rich arrangement in sonic spectrum. SCALLER gained more exposure in mid 2016. They were nominated as “Breakthrough Artist Of The Year” by Indonesian Choice Awards in 2016 and awarded “Rookie Of The Year” in 2017 by Rolling Stone Indonesia. Since then, the band have been headlining music festivals such as Soundrenaline, Synchronize Fest, We The Fest, Kickfest, Jakarta Fair and many more. In 2019, the band went global.

Kamil) Hey Scaller, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?
Stella : I guess listening to records that my sisters had back in the 90s then i started to feel the joy of music.
Reney : i grew up listening to RATM & Led Zeppelin which got me into learning electric guitar and falling in love with rock n roll.
How do you balance your time in the studio with other commitments such as a part-time job, family, admin?
First of all, we are full time musicians, so music is always been our top priority. We also run our own commercial recording studio, so things are quite managable for us.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Keep exploring. Life has so many things to offer.
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Stella : i think i’m only good at music. But if i had to choose, i’d like to be a trail runner. Enjoying mountains all over the world with my feet.
Reney : Maybe a football / soccer player. Haha
How do you know when a work is finished?
When new ideas seem to make the initial sparks in the song gone. We learned a lot not to overdo in producing.
Can you write what was your best performance in your career? How do you remember it?
When we toured our first album “Senses” back in 2017. We had no idea that our music could reach out to thousands of people and playing live in front of them.
Do you have a mentor or coach?
We grew up studying music and met some cool people along the way. But, we never really had mentor or coach. Mostly we get inspired by listening to our favorite musicians.
Who is your favourite musician?
Both : Always been a fan of Thom Yorke & Jonny Greenwood in terms of how they keep rediscovering new things in their music. For the past decade we’ve been listening to Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada & Four Tet. And Battles!
What are your plans for the future?
We’ve just joined Archangel & Golden Robot Records. Glad to finally have an amazing team that also care to bring out our music to more people out there. They will be releasing our full-length 2nd album and more exciting plans for the future. Very exciting!
