Chris) Hi Mortimer, how are you today?

Mortimer) I am well thanks!  Been doing a spot of DIY!

For those that haven’t heard of you yet, how would you best describe your sound and who have been your biggest influences so far?

Heavily influenced by 90s Britpop with a modern twist to it.  Main influences are Oasis, The Jam, The Beatles and The Strokes.

You have just released your new single ‘Ghosts’. Can you tell us how that track came about?

It all started with the descending bass line after listening to Portishead and just grew from there really!

And was there a particular style you were looking for when you wrote it?

I wanted it to have a haunting kind of vibe, reminiscent of Portishead, but also wanted to mix it up with a slight Radiohead feel to it.

Can we expect a new EP, or even an album from you in the near future?

Hopefully, I have lots of new songs in the pipeline, so maybe early next year.

The coronavirus outbreak has obviously affected everyone’s plans, but what have you got in store for the rest of the year?

Going to focus on writing and recording, I’m not great with Social Media so can’t wait till we can play gigs again!

And finally, what has been your proudest moment as an artist working today?

Getting recognition from Steve Lamacq was really incredible.  I’ve been a huge fan of his for so many years!
