Interview: • Abisso • - Cradle Of Ice

One year after the release of "Son Of Abyss", the bewitching Sardinian duo "Abisso", composed by EryaV and D'avy, gives us a second emotional wave with the new album "Cradle Of Ice", available on all digital platforms. The work, instrumental and entirely self-produced, leads us back to that overwhelming sound and emotional experience that distinguishes these cryptic artists, capable of embracing the dark ambient reality in its most hidden "crevices" and weaving it to the cinematic one.

Hello • Abisso • . What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?

Hello. :)

"Great musicians"... Oh, that's a pretty high-sounding term, and it’s complex to attribute as well. We think that beyond this, the strengths can be various and different, but inevitably, a musician has to know how to move himself and viscerally feel what he composes. Of course, knowing how to move others is just as important, but this is something strictly subjective, therefore not always feasible.

Who inspired you to make music?

This is simple: our souls

Your latest release is 'Cradle Of Ice'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

"Abisso" is a multimedia project; therefore, it would be more appropriate to talk about the background of the project itself rather than that of the single elements that composed it. "Cradle of Ice" in fact, like the previous "Son Of Abyss", is nothing more than a branch of a multifaceted artistic dimension, supported by textual and photographic elements. It’s a continuous, closely interconnected reality that gradually reveals some of its features.

Can you shortly describe each of the tracks that are on the album?

The titles themselves express part of the essence of the songs. As with the "Son Of Abyss" album, we tell and refer to very personal issues that we prefer not to explore publicly. This project not only represents a means of artistic expression for us, but also a call of immense value for us, addressed to very specific creatures or people who we sincerely hope will receive our "message" and "resonate" with us. We hope you can forgive us for not adequately answering your question, but it is the most honest thing we can declare.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest musical trends?

It depends; generally, we consult the web.

What makes you different from others?

Everything and nothing at the same time.

What’s an average day like for you?

A day in which you are in close contact with nature. There are several places that we love, but one in particular: a splendid cove (in Sardinia) with emerald waters and wonderful sea caves, called "Is puligi de nie". One of the places where the abyss gets closer. It's home.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans.

We interact with them through our Facebook page, which is the only social network we use a little more. We respond to their messages in written form.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

We would advise them not to be afraid to dare and to respect themselves and their dreams and not to allow anyone to obscure their essences, their realities, and everything they represent. This is really hard to do, but it's what we think we should reserve for ourselves.

What are your plans for the future?

We would like to be able to further enrich and evolve our project, but doing it entirely by ourselves is not enough. We therefore hope that a serious employment contract will reach us that really has the desire and interest to welcome us and our project.
