Interview: Temperature Falls - Lab Rat

Echoing through the melodic ceiling and hitting the living room ambiance with both pin- point accuracy and earth-shuttering effect is the musical duo Temperature Falls made up of vocalist and lyricist Camilla and multi-instrumentalist Ian J. Ward- bringers of rhapsody and thrill with their high-pedigree performances that are always menacing and genuinely authentic! Besides sharing that indestructible music connection that brought them closer together, they seem to have a penchant for high-standard genre-defying music that otherworldly and effectively drenches and drowns listeners with its strikingly marvellous cold and drizzling cadences. With them, you are guaranteed of impeccably composed music that transcends the lyrical and melodic boundaries of aesthetic genres astoundingly!

Kamil) Hey Temperature Falls, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

We have both been into music from youth, we both have parents that are heavily into music, both listening to and playing so we both got the bug really early on. Ian had played guitar growing up and when he saw Pearl Jam unplugged as that was his spark to want to write and perform music , he had continued playing and writing and forming bands and finally signed a deal with his band in the UK 'Number One Son' with visible Noise/Sony Europe records. I had been singing locally and just never found the right project i really enjoyed untill I met Ian and heard the demos he was working on and then i was hooked!

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

So many great artists, difficult to narrow down. I would mention 'Sylvan Esso' such a great sonic palette and amazing vocals and songs - we also really love bands outside our genre such as The deftones and Tool. we are planning a Tool cover to release next month!

Your latest song is 'Lab Rat'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

ian ame with this great musical hook in the chorus and i fell in love with it - it made me feel uneasy , the way the sonics of the synth hits. this uneasy feeling helped me shape the story of that feeling I got being at a friends party and your ex partner turns up, you cant just leave the party because of your friends but you just dont want to see or talk or be seen by this piece of shit ex lover ! ha ha so that was the inspiration of being trapped like a Lab Rat

What are you focussing on right now?

We are in the middle of writing for or 4th album. we have kind of hit a wall and took some weeks away and wanted to do something fun so we recorded a cover of our fave Tool track - Stinkfist. we loved it so uch our friends onvinced us to release it - will be out in June 2022! we will get back to writing in the next few weeks and hopefully have an autumn /winter album release

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Best advice - just enjoy it and write the music thats in your heart . cant please everyone but if you try and please others you probably wont and youll hate it yourself. so we are just us and we write whats inside

What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

We always try and stay busy writing and recording - if we release an album this year thats 4 albums in 4 years we have been Temperature Falls. so staying fresh and creative and keep moving forward and improving sonically and our recording and mixing skills and keep trying to write songs we love.

How do you structure your day?

Work for both of us comes first - I work shifts as a nurse - Ian is 9-5 as an engineer so thats our priorities to pay the bills and keep our studio nad recording going . we love writing and recording so all our free time is in the studio. Ian will write and record a bunch of music and we will listen together and discuss what we move forward on together.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

This is our passion and our hobbie its 99% of our free time. outside of that we like watching films , we love great films and its good to relax to. Drive is one of our faves and has a great soundtrack - Heat and John Carpentersd The Thing are our all time classics

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I love singing queen songs in the shower ! is there a better singer songwriter than Freddie Mercury?? probably not

What are your plans for the future?

Finish this album!! ha ha then we want to plan some live shows here in Norway.
