DJ H Chimist produced several albums in the French rap with beautiful collaborations as Soprano, Mystik, Lino. Today DJ H Chimist has expanded his horizons with new musical influences by composing instrumentals of different styles (rap, pop, chill, reggaeton, film music ...) and invite artists from around the world (Belgium, United States, Spain, Colombia, Morocco, etc.) to finalize his projects. Kamil) Hey DJ H Chimist, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?
I entered the music very young 12 years. My elder brothers bathed me involuntarily in a musical environment very regularly (cd, cassette, vinyls) played a good part of the day at home with a rather strong volume, in etlectic kinds (Funk, rap, soul, pop, rock...) I tried break dancing to finally devote myself to dee jaying at the age of 14. I took part in many scene of concert, meeting between dj for battle of scratch. During these years, I also built up a good musical culture in the rap scene. It's only a few years later that I also dedicated myself to the composition and make my own instruments. It was a beautiful time for me, authentic, efervescent.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with great talented singers like Sia, Robyn or Imagine Drogons for example I love their charisma and I think my productions would fit well with these kind of voices.
Your latest song is 'Life Bond'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?
As usual, I propose the finished track to the singer (voice + music). For Life Bond, it was quite easy and I didn't have too much difficulty to find the melody lines for the music and the writings for the music as well as the scenario of the video clip that you can also find on my youtube channel. For my part, the creation and realization of this title was done quite naturally.I was inspired :) I would say that the only unusual process would be that this music speaks about personal and intimate facts. This helped me a lot to find the artistic direction of the track.
What are you focussing on right now?
As I'm lucky to be able to make only music in my life, I'm also a producer of my music and I work on other projects in parallel but always with a link with music. I'm currently working as a composer on the original soundtrack of a series that could be released on Netflix soon and I also accompany some artists as producers by helping them to finalize their album. I still try to release my own singles or albums on a regular basis, it remains my priority.
What are you most proud of?
In private life? In this case I would say that I am the most proud of my children, they are the next generation :) For the music side, I'm proud of my musical career and all the projects already released
What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?
The biggest challenge for me is to combine artistic life and everyday life. You really need to have a serious organization of your time to be able to make music and everything that comes from it, to live your family life and especially to spend time with your loved ones, human time, because you must not forget to live these human moments despite the sacrifices.
How do you structure your day?
At the beginning of the day, I quickly go on the internet and check all my social networks and some media specialized in the music industry to be informed of what's going on. Then I compose and do all the creative activities (singing, composing, arranging, mixing) for a few hours. After lunch, I take care of all the administrative tasks concerning the music, production, promotion, research of placements, exchanges by mail with collaborators tec for a few hours before spending time with my children and playing with them. In the evening I do sports and if I have time I continue my activities concerning the music. No weekends and few vaccinations. Sacrifices.
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?
I try to do all this when I have a free time but yes I like sports, video games, walking in the mountains and traveling, see other horisons :)
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Being also a playlist curator, I receive music every day. I sometimes hum a few that stay in my head for a while and that I find fantastic, and not only in the shower lol. There are a few yes
What are your plans for the future?
I would like later to have the feeling of having completed my projects, to spend time with my loved ones, to enjoy life and to reach this universal serenity that everyone is looking for. The life of an artist :)
