Interview: Liv Crash - You Fool (Mad)

Milan-based musician Liv Crash is a guitarist at heart. He incorporates a melodic blend of rock, funk, and jazz influences into his music, and pens his tunes on his own. Liv Crash’s signature sound, featured in his debut single, “’Cause even in this song”, showcases his versatility by featuring funk and rock guitar parts. Born on May 9, just like the great Billy Joel, Liv Crash was destined for music success. At 13, he began learning piano and started exploring rock music at 17 when he started listening to Iron Maiden. Dave Murray, a highly regarded musician, inspired Liv Crash to begin studying guitar. Liv Crash chose a black and white American Fender Stratocaster, just like Murray. After he began playing guitar, Liv Crash was hooked on all things guitar and all things music.

Kamil) Hey Liv Crash, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

I was introduced to piano study when i was 13. At 17 i started listening to Iron Maiden and decided i wanted to leard guitar.

Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

My favourite part is absolutely learn something new. Music is a huge panorama of knowledge and there are a lot of things i'm constantly curious about. My least favourite is....i don't think there is one.

Your latest song is 'You Fool (Mad)'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

Everything started from his arpeggio. I played it one time some years ago. My girlfriend told me "it makes me cry", so i started working on a new song. You Fool had other Lyrics and another title. I decided to change lyrics and title because i wanted to write a different song for the old ones. First title of "You fool" was "You Mad" which was grammatically wrong. That's why the word "mad" is into parenthesis.

How do you differ from most other artists?

I'm a guitarist / singer, not a singer/guitarist.

Where are you from and do you have a stable home or do you prefer travelling?

I'm from Italy. Actually i live in Milan but i'd love to travel. Hopefully when my music will be listened worldwide and have a tour to organize.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

One word: mine.

How do you nurture your own creativity?

Everything comes from what i've learned from my idols. They are a huge number (about 122, i think) and i picked up at least one piece of their playing and putted in mine. In every song there is something i learned from one or more of them.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Today, my first place would go to Winery Dogs.

Who's your ideal musician to collaborate with and why?

Hans Zimmer, because i'd like to play in or writing movie soundtracks one day.

What are your plans for the future?

A new single will be out on May 10th called "Wonderland". On July 7th my debut album "'Cause even in this album" will be released and we are organizing a release party. We are still searching for a location, probably will be Milan but who knows.
