Interview: Sdar Lotus - Transcendental

'Transcendental' by Sdar Lotus is a melodic creation based in combing two beautiful Heart Chakra Crystal Alchemy Sound Bowls to create a mind and chakra balancing shimmer that not only vibrates at the frequency of love, DNA, and Cellular repair (528hz), but also at the frequency of the universe, or 'heartbeat of the earth' (432hz). Layered with vocal toning, rainstick, and deep vibrating bass, (you're going to want to listen to this on a good speaker) it will take you on a journey within. Melodic channeled lyrics, this song was not written but flowed in one fluid take, raw, and organic.

What first got you into music?

I've been singing and making up lil songs all my life. I was having a hard time finding someone to create with for awhile and then I finally met my producer Eha Rouge and everything fell perfectly into place. We've been creating amazing tracks ever since!

What do you think your role is in this world?

I feel my roll is to bring happiness, love, and healing to all I encounter. Doing that though my music, and basing my new music in healing tones is just one of the many ways I share my gifts with the world.

Your latest track is 'Transcendental'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

Transcendental is created by pairing two beautiful low Crystal Alchemy Bowls to create a binaural beat at the Heart chakra. This not only balances the mind, but also activates the heart. I then layered it with vocal toning, rainstick, and allowed the lyrics to flow freely from my soul.

What is one message you would give to your fans?

One message I would give to my fans is to make sure you're taking deep belly breaths! During these times everyone is so stressed out, our energy is splatted! By taking a deep belly breath you pull your energy back onto self and it helps your system into more of a relaxed State and out of fight or flight which you'll notice is more breathing up in the upper lobes of the lungs instead of taking that deep belly breath. A deep belly breath can really ground, center, and gather back your energy.

How do you spend your time?

I spend my time creating many different kinds of art, perfecting my craft, doing self work, and lifting up those around me.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my art and how I have grown over time, artistically and spirituality, in all aspects. I co produce all my music, I edit my own photos and art, and the environment I have created to hold space for others in my healing sessions. My art is truly a divine extension of self and spirit.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Uft, that's a hard one! I think opening for Jhene Aiko would be really cool because we both work with Crystal Alchemy Bowls and we both have the same mentor and teacher, Jeralyn Glass of Crystal Cadence.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?

Right now I'm actually learning how to create by using a looper! I never stop learning and creating, I also just got a piano to learn how to pay another instrument. I'm always growing and learning and picking up new ways to express my creativity!

Do you think that technology is improving lives?

I think technology is allowing us to share more of ourselves with a wider audience. Being someone with Fibromyalgia, it would be hard for me to go on a whole tour to share my music. Technology allows me to be heard all over the world and give live shows to all my fans from the comfort of our own spaces. The ability to connect with such a wide audience is a divine blessing.

What are your plans for the future?

I have a few more songs on deck to release within the next few months. I'm also working on creating more meditation tracks and doing more online live performances!
