Interview: Ninni - For the Last Time

"For the Last Time" is a little song that Ninni wrote for our loved ones who are not with us anymore. "Sometimes the fear of losing someone literally drives us mad because we are completely helpless in front of the fate that comes our way." However, everything in life must be faced, even the deepest pain, which makes us human and which, if explored, understood, and lived, can help you bring to light the value of this experience, discovering a resilient capacity that can make us stronger.

Kamil) Hey Ninni, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. How has the time gone for you since our last interview?

Fine and you? I wrote a bunch of songs last year that I think I'm going to release in Spring. Songwriting is a kind of therapy for me and it helps me a lot during my days.

What role does the artist have in society?

I think an artist has the role of of making the world richer, more beautiful and harmonious through his songs, works, maybe inspiring others to do so.

Your latest song is 'For the Last Time'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

The song was born during one of my many sleepless nights: I was talking on the phone with a friend of mine when I suddenly told her that I would call her back because I was humming this melody, so I picked up my classical guitar and recorded it straightaway, just guitar and vocal. Then I added a simple string synth.

What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?

I have many beautiful memories, cherished moments spent with my family, my father who passed away a few years ago. Christmases spent together in the name of happiness, made up of little things, precious moments that I'll always keep with me.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?

The most embarrassing moment in my life was when I went on stage playing bass with a band at an Italian festival and although the jack was plugged in, no sound came out of the amp. Luckily someone helped me out and it finally worked.

Is the artistic life lonely? What do you do to counteract it?

Sometimes I just prefer being alone but I'm not a lonely person. Being alone gives you time and space to think about something new. There is a time to be in good company and a time to meditate and think about what happens around you.

What is your dream project?

I would like to take my music to clubs all over the world and have fun together with my friends.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

The first thing I would recommend is just having fun with your friends, playing around without thinking about anything else. Of course if you want it to become a profession, you need to practice a lot, play a lot and above all, go and listen to gigs. Listening to music is vital for a musician.

When were you generally fulfilled in your position as an artist?

I have to say that I'm always looking for something new: new sounds, new stimuli, new songs. Of course, sometimes you have to appreciate what you have and what has been done, but I think, in my case, there is still a long way to go and many new experiences to make.

What can we expect from Ninni in the near future?

I'm thinking about releasing new songs with more experimental sounds. Time will tell!
