Chris) Hi Isaac, how are you today?

Isaac) I'm doing well man, thanks for asking. Just trying to stay productive and creative, this lockdown period has helped me to find new ways to be inspired.

Who would you say have been your biggest influences so far?

My biggest influence is probably Bon Iver in the way that he always uses emotion and personal experience to create music that is raw but also so accessible. The first album that properly inspired me was Antony and the Johnsons, 'I Am a Bird Now' every song was rooted in things he had felt or seen and they all had so much meaning. That's the type of music I want to hear and make, music that comes from a place of meaning.

Lyrically, I'm inspired by Jay Electronica. He crafts images and metaphors so effortlessly in single sentences, that's something I want to try and emulate in my music.

You have just released your new single ‘Run Away’. Can you tell us the inspiration behind that song?

‘Run Away’ is a song about feeling alone and trying to find a place where you belong. So many of us feel like we don’t know who we are, we try to form an identity based on what society tell us we should be, and this means we struggle to relate and connect to people. This is why we feel so alone. ‘Run Away’ is about trying to escape that, about longing to find your place in the world.

And are you pleased with how it turned out?

I'm pleased with the results for sure, I think a song like this needs to be raw and intimate. I didn’t want to over complicate it, but the ending makes the song interesting. I feel like it stops being your run of the mill singer-songwriter piece at that point and becomes something different.

Will we be expecting a new EP or even album from you in the near future?

I've got plenty more to come, this is just the start. I have a wealth of singles, and videos to come so watch this space.

Coronavirus is obviously affecting every musician’s live shows right now, but what about your plans for the rest of the year?

The rest of the year I intend to just keep releasing music and reaching people online until I can start playing. I'm a new artist and just finding my feet so making my music heard is the priority.

And finally, what would be your dream ambition as an artist?

To be honest, my ambition is just to have my music heard. I feel like I have something to say and that people can feel hope when they listen to my music. If I reach enough people and can ease their pain slightly, that's an achievement for me. I'm not targeting commercial success; I just want my message to be heard
