Hey Tom Speight, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

Thank you for having me :) I remember getting the now 33 cassette which had so many different artists and all kinds of different genres. Oasis was my first love..’Live Forever’ teleported me into a different world. I can’t explain why but it did.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Great question! I think I would make a great record with Kacey Musgraves. Mainly because she would be on it! She is such a classic writer and I loved her ‘Golden Hour’ album.

Your latest song is 'The One'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

‘The One’ is definitely the most confident pop song I’ve released so far. It was inspired by a few things! The thing I’m most proud of is that it deals with a really sad subject with the backdrop of a strong delivery.. so it never feels weak or vulnerable! Sometimes when you’re dealing with a break up you need to find that inner strength & I think ‘The One’ does that. Unusual things I would say I think people might be shocked by how poppy it is.

What are you focussing on right now?

My third album is all done. I'm just waiting for it to be released & we’re going to be touring in October. I’m hoping for it to be my busiest year so far. I can’t wait to share the record with everyone.

What are you most proud of?

I feel very lucky to have done so many great things like Glastonbury , touring overseas , having a no1 in Brazil etc but I feel like my true success is being a full time musician for nearly a decade! I feel truly blessed.

What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

The worst thing about the job is probably social media but I also see it as a blessing as I can reach my audience within seconds. I would never have reached Brazil & have a decent following over there without the internet.

How do you structure your day?

I have to keep busy otherwise it’s not good for me. This can be anything from writing a song to recording or doing promo! I try to treat being a musician like it’s a job so structure is really important for me to keep proactive.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

I love photography! I previously did my own artwork with my photography. One of my favourite things is polaroid and taking shots while touring.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I don’t actually.. however, I do brainstorm! My best ideas sometimes happen while in the shower.

What are your plans for the future?

Just to see as many different cities as possible on this album! I’ve missed worldwide touring and can’t wait to get back out there.
