Hi Laurelight. Nice to be able to interview you. How is life in London for you? Would you recommend the city for people from outside United Kingdom?

Living in London can be difficult as an emerging artist but also interesting! I moved in 2017 and started my own project in 2020 during Lockdown. Now I am travelling and performing mainly in 2 countries (Italy and the UK) in order to keep myself motivated and inspired as well! Recommended city only for those with a solid plan!

Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?

The list is way too long! I’ll stick with Christine and the Queens, Harry Styles and Venerus.

Your latest track is 'Peaceful'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

Peaceful came in a very unexpected way. I was jamming with a drum machine and added some stereo delay on top of that. It gave life to the main beat of the song and inspired the synths and the whole melody as well. It’s a combination of songwriting + production that I use very often as creative process.

How can you describe the music you make?

Genre-wise alt pop with influences from synth pop to disco funk influences. Creative-wise as ‘A sparkle of light surrounded by darkness’.

Do you have common hobbies beyond music?

I love sports (football, skiing and F1) I do also enjoy listening to podcasts and meditating.

What got you started in the music industry?

Music has always been part of my life. At 9 years old I played the Trombone in a local marching band in Italy. At 15 years old I started writing my first songs on the guitar. Now I’m 25 and I’m an independent artist performing and writing my own songs. Music will always be part of my journey.

What is the biggest decision you’ve had to make?

Following your dreams always require tough decisions to make.

What are your achievements to the moment?

Keep on releasing the best work I can ever deliver! And growing single by single in order to establish a sustainable career in the music industry.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

It opened to a multitude of possibilities from both creative and entrepreneurial points of view. But since it gives loads of choices, it can also be difficult to choose a path in the music business.

What are your plans for the future?

Keep on releasing music and growing career-wise. Maybe at some point I’ll be able to release in both English and Italian in order to explore several markets.
