Interview: Axus Bliss - Live Once Die Twice

Mid-Atlantic Melodic Modern Metal. High Range Vocals Penetrating A Sonic Dynamic Rhythm Machine. Carlton Kelly on vocals, Steven Lewis on guitar, John Lewis on drums, and Daniel Parham on bass make up the Axus Bliss band. Their primary influences are primarily 80s rock and metal, but also early 70s Sabbath to today's rock and metal progressions. An acoustic lead in the song "Cartel Love Affair" was a new flavor they added to a full metal recording. But keeping a solid groove was key.

Hello Axus Bliss. What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?

We quit listening to the radio and closed ourselves into 1985.

Who inspired you to make music?

Our families.

Your latest release is 'Live Once Die Twice'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

Our bassist died mid recording, dedicated a song in his passing. Parlay (for Choade).

Can you shortly describe each of the tracks that are on the album?

No, because I don’t want to add a bunch of paragraphs, but only to add that we created each song in reverse toward its release, so song 1 was actually the seventh song to record.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest musical trends?

We keep digging for .lost rhythms from the past. So we kinda shut out a lot of the now music to keep the vibe.

What makes you different from others?

We are magnetic with a grove more than a math metal. Reliant of course with chemistry of one another.

What’s an average day like for you?

Wondering, ….what if we all had collaborated together at 17, knowing and living a different time then.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans.

We answer every query, but loved signing breast.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Don’t take lessons, be you. Not that artist you followed. He’s already there.

What are your plans for the future?

New singles to be released.
