Hello Peter Spacey, Youarei. What first got you into music?

Spacey: "I grew up immersed in music, raised by musician parents in an innovative, inspiring musical environment. Music was always there for me, a way to express myself, to communicate, to groove and move to, and to relax into. I used to sit with my father during sessions when he was doing compositions and orchestrations for theater, making electronic music on his computer, or playing the guitar. Also, when mom's lessons when she was teaching flute. Also listening to music at home - everything from popular oldies throughout Brasilian and jazz up to electronic. Some artists that influenced me the most in my first years were - Jobim, Chick-Korea, Jean Michel Jaar, Beastie boys, Fatboyslim, Gorillaz, and Queen." I started at age 7 as a Classical & Jazz pianist alongside early exposure to synthesizers, drum machines, Turntables, beat-making, and Djing (Started making music and Djing at 14).

Youarei: “Music got into me, we have a crazy relationship. I’m a Trombone player because there were no more slots for the Saxophone teacher and the only music teacher available was the Trombone one. I’m a Music producer because I didn’t get into the Army’s band and to create music I could only bring a computer to my base. My first DJ gig happened at a moment’s notice when a friend asked me to replace him at a local bar. Thanks to all of those circumstances, today I can say I’m a Trombonist, producer, and DJ.”

What do you think your role is in this world?

Peter: “First, I’m a creative artist, I’m here in the world to create and share gift my gift. Second, it’s important for me to contribute to other creators, if via mentoring sessions & master classes that I’m doing. On privet sessions or an art institute. Pass on the knowledge, inspire others. And spread music, art, love, and light.

Your latest track is 'Etz - Tree Of Source'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

Youarei: “Peter and I have known each other for a while back in Tel Aviv and based our communication mainly through social media. We shared a couple of quick sessions in 2019, and surprisingly enough it clicked. In just a few hours we had this special track ready to go. Fun fact, the entire intro is me mumbling to a cigarette-box microphone.”

How do you spend your time?

Peter: I start my day with meditation for the mind and yoga for the body. Recently got into Chi-gong and really like it. Really into mindfulness and wellness. Personal growth work and spirituality. Doing music of course daily, making new ideas, beats, collaborating with artists, and listening to new music.

Youarei: “I have a lovely park just across from my place in Berlin, and when I need to reset my thoughts, I love walking there and feeding the cute squirrels. Lately I also got into Spinning, dopamine is a hell of a drug.”

What are you most proud of?

Throwing away all of my underwear that had holes in them.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Youarei: “Margol, the Israeli Radiohead.”

Peter: Would like to open a show for my influences: Daft Punk, Jean Michel Jarre, Flume, Sun Ra, C2C. Also electronic acts like Koan Sound, Haywire, FKJ, and Anomalie. A couple of years ago I had the chance to perform before Anomlie on his ‘Velarouse’ Tour. it was awesome.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as an artist?

I learned that taking yourself too seriously can put a lot of pressure on creation. The term “Artist” feels heavy to me. I look at it more as a part of me, that I’m devoted to and enjoy exploring myself in it.

Do you think that technology is improving lives?

Peter: The Mixture of art and technology creates a new playground for me as a creative artist. A playground that provides new possibilities for cross-border collaborations between platforms and art forms. This combination takes the experience, both from the audience's perspective and the creator's perspective to a new and deeper level. The power of art and technology empowers the creation possibilities, characteristic-wise and perfection-wise. For me, technology is a main element when creating. for my first beat-tape  'Spacey Video Beat tape' Release Party, I Created an A.R. exhibition (Augmented Reality) - an Audio-Visual interactive exhibition based on A.R Technology, where the audience can get the full Audio-Visual experience of the album, watch and listen to the album via a smartphone app. Recently I Launched an NFT Collection of Audio-Visual - Digital Works. Collaboration with LA-Based Visual Artists. The collection took part in Varied exhibitions, and galleries among them are 'Soho House', 'Tel-Aviv Museum Of Art, The Holy Art Gallery', and Shibuya-TV in Tokyo-Japan. https://tell.ie/peterspacey/Textures

What superpower would you have and why?

Youarei: “Would love to be able to transport myself, it would save me a lot of money on flights. However, can I only transport myself or also the clothes I wear? It would be very awkward to move around the world naked. So yeah, I would appreciate the power to transport myself along with my clothes.”
