Kamil) Hey Ebony Moore, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

Hey Kamil, it’s so awesome to chat with you, thank you! Listening to my dad’s records as a kid got me into music for sure. I’d sing along to anything he’d play from The Temptations to Rod Stewart. I joined the school glee club as well as sang in my church choir at a young age. I got my first keyboard at age ten and wrote my very first song that same year.

How do you balance your time in the studio with other commitments such as a part-time job, family, admin?

I’m really thankful for my village, my family! They help a great deal, especially with my little one, who is my first priority. My soon to be six year old son is my biggest inspiration. I also go to a great family-run studio, Tequila Sunrise Music, where I work with amazing sound engineer, Kenny Barker, who has a flexible schedule. It’s a blessing!

Your latest release is 'Ebby The Dreamer'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

‘Ebby The Dreamer’ wouldn’t be possible if I hadn’t lost my voice to Covid-19. I wasn’t able to sing for months and thought all hope was lost. I was so depressed until I stumbled upon a film titled, “God’s Not Dead” one evening while flipping through channels. I’m so glad I did because that film is a real spirit-lifter. Weeks after, I started having dreams of myself singing the lyrics to what would become “3AM”, one of the singles on my EP. I collaborated with the incredible producer, White Hot of freebeats.io, and wrote these songs in no time. Although I still didn’t have a voice to sing, I booked the studio time anyway unsure of what would happen. It’s truly astonishing how on the day of my scheduled recording session, I got my voice back. I went in there and sang my heart out like never before. God is amazing! I will continue to put my trust in Him. My faith and voice were both restored, and I hope to inspire listeners everywhere to never give up no matter what!

Where did you get the inspiration for this EP?

After overcoming hardship, I was compelled to share my testimony through song to uplift others. Inspired by the incredible story of Joseph The Dreamer in Genesis Chapter 37 in the bible, I titled my release, ‘Ebby The Dreamer’ after him. I’m a dreamer too!

How long did you work on the 'Ebby The Dreamer'? Was it an easy process for you?

The project was complete in just two days. I recorded all four tracks on the first day in the studio and mixing/mastering was done on the second. Further indication to me that this was definitely meant to happen because it all went so smoothly.

How do you know when a work is finished?

It’s the final listen for me after the whole recording process is complete. If I jump up out of my chair because it sounds incredible through my headset, that’s it for me. Mission accomplished!

Can you write what was your best performance in your career? How do you remember it?

I’m still waiting for that best performance and time will tell.

How do you find yourself in the music business? When you started out in music, did you know it would be like this?

I started recording music in 1998 while staying in New York City. I was young bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in my early twenties. Although things didn’t work out as I had hoped, I was still determined to find my place in the music industry. I’ve had insurmountable disappointments over the years but yet I continue to write, record and release music every chance I get. Now, I’m driven to just make it count!

Who is your favourite musician?

Lenny Kravitz is a true musician who has inspired me since forever. His music will grab your soul. Not to mention, the man plays almost every instrument. Lenny ROCKS!! My favourite Christian Rock band is Newsboys! Their music changed my life and I aspire to work with them as well.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to go back into the studio soon to record an LP to be released sometime in 2023. I love the Christian Rock genre and in it, I’m just getting started!
