Interview: Brainheart - Keep Me From Falling Apart

EDM/pop producer, Brainheart has joined forces with singer/songwriter Dorel to create a stunning love song. Each teammate brings their superior strengths to the table. As Brainheart effortlessly constructs rich soundscapes that can transport the listener to a dream-like euphoria, Dorel steps up to the mic and unravels his inner truths; sculpting them into clever, meaningful lyrics, sung in his tone of gold. A serious musical match for the ages. This song is about complicated relationships. Everybody must realize that healthy relationships aren't perfect. As human beings, we are all flawed and that's ok. There are so many people out there who believe in finding “the perfect partner”. Sometimes the greatest relationships are the ones you never expected to be in.

Hello Brainheart. What made you want to become a musician?

Hey, my mom used to listen to classical and orchestral music. This music touched my soul immediately. I got addicted to the instruments and melodies. Over the years, music saved my life so many times. I struggled a lot in school. Loneliness and emptiness are heavier than people can ever imagine. People couldn’t understand me, or help me and music was there for me in my darkest times. I grew up and I fell in love with more genres, especially EDM. There is something special about electronic music. I taught myself how to play piano at the age of 15 and a year later, I decided to produce music. Youtube was my teacher. I still have a lot to learn, and I am getting better every day.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of music?

Yeah, I love the gym because it is an escape, a place to lose yourself in your own unique version of combative meditation. Training is like therapy for me, the gym is a place of progress and contemplation, a place to push yourself and hone your ability to focus, grow, and achieve self-improvement.

Your latest song is 'Keep Me From Falling Apart'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

This song is really special to me. I made it with one of my best friends Dorel. Such an amazing singer that will go places. This is the first time that I’ve combined pop, pop-punk, and EDM together—genres that I love extremely. It was so fun creating it. I will definitely create another pop punk/EDM song in the future. Even though I’m not a great guitarist, I forced myself to play as much as I can. That’s why this song contains a lot of guitar layers, something that I will do more in my future productions for sure!

When you are working through problems in your work, who do you talk to?

I have 2 friends that always by my side and support my music and my mental health so I talk to them.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?

Only music, actually I worked at a restaurant in the past but just for a month.

Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

My favorite part is that I can touch so many people. I know that I am a small artist but still... I feel the love and I feel that I am making an impact. My least favorite part about being a musician is social media. I just hate it. There are many positive aspects but, when it comes to value and self-worth, I believe much of what is on social media is causing harm. Social media creates pressure to have a perfect life. Constantly viewing perfect selfies with unattainable beauty standards or expensive houses on social media forms unrealistic views of reality. Unfortunately, it's not possible to be a successful musician without social media...

What’s your scariest experience?

Not a specific experience but this year was a mess for me. Depression and anxiety hit hard and it's quite hard to live like that. The road to success is crazy, there are so many ups and downs...I hope 2023 will be a better year.

What are you focussing on right now?

I am focusing on making more music and pushing boundaries. I want to keep growing my socials and fanbase and of course, evolve and become a better version of myself – as a musician and as a person.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The industry is so fake, the labels control everything and the industry hates independent musicians. The industry push artist to make hits and not make music that comes from the soul, what matters to them is the money and not the music. I wish that one day the industry will prefer meaningful lyrics and will support creativity instead of terrible music with awful messages.

What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next five to 10 years?

Selling out huge shows, touching millions of hearts around the world, and making an impact on so many souls. I see a better version of myself, a better human being, and a better musician. I see myself happy, doing what I love for the rest of my life.
