Interview: Pierce Braedon - Her.

With his shimmering, ambient, and groovy pop-rock hooks, Missourian singer-songwriter Pierce Braedon concocts a whirl of emotion with his eclectic alt-pop that connects in a sentiment of hopeful loneliness where "everything we dreamed about is happening, but without you". Combining his upbringing in heavy 80s rock and classic country with the modern pop of The Kid Laroi, Justin Bieber, and Olivia Rodrigo, the overarching theme of Braedon’s music is the sensation of strong and personal emotion delivered with strong, emotional songwriting. At 13 years old, growing up in the small town of Poplar Bluff in Missouri, Pierce was introduced to the guitar and developed an affinity for the unconcerned attitude of Kurt Cobain.

Kamil) Hey Pierce Braedon, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What first got you into music?

What first got me into music was listening to and watching videos of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana play, I thought Kurt Cobain was so cool, I don’t know why, but I was drawn to him.

Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

My favorite part of being a musician is creating something from scratch that is mine and can be enjoyed by anyone anywhere.

Your latest song is 'Her.'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

The back ground of the creation of her. is I would say a normal thing. I was 16, I was thinking how am I gonna record my first song , and everything just happened , it was pretty crazy but here we are now , first song I’ve ever fully wrote and recorded, and her was the outcome.

How do you differ from most other artists?

How do I differ from other artists? Well I started playing music at 13 and all of my music and lyrics are composed and written by me, they have no cheap commercial radio feel to them because I love making them, everything I make always has a deeper meaning and purpose, every single detail from the cover arts, to the words, to the type of instruments played have a meaning to what the song is about. Phrases and sayings, times and licks, the songs are made vague but who they are intended for will understand.

Where are you from and do you have a stable home or do you prefer travelling?

Where am I from? I am a Missouri born and raised artists, my life has been very blessed.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

The music I create is made to make its own atmosphere. You could be in the car, at the movies , at work , but when you hear the music you feel as if your in the time period of memory that you have correlated with the song. You could be at work and hear it and remember the time you met a person like no other, can remember the feeling you had, you can smell the air, you get chills when you feel it. That is my intention for the music.

How do you nurture your own creativity?

I nurture my own creativity by imagining a roaring crowd singing my songs back to me , then I write . That special someone being in the crowd, and only me and her know whom in which the crowd is singing to.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

If I could open a show for any artist I would like to open for Morgan Wallen. If it was any show ever I would love to open for Van Halen or Nirvana.

Who's your ideal musician to collaborate with and why?

I don’t know if I’m into collaborative works all that much . Maybe I meet someone that gives me the chills with their authenticity and we can connect on a musical level to make something bigger than us, but it feels off sharing the intimacy of my work with someone who wouldn’t understand exactly what I was feeling. Who knows only time will tell.

What are your plans for the future?

My plans for the future? Sell 50 million records, make 150 million dollars and retire off into the country of Missouri and plant a vegetable garden. (I always plant tomato’s but the never make it , maybe I’ll get better as time goes on.)
