HERDS' Debut Album 'Falling Wide Awake' Flare Out Sublime Dream Rock and Dazy Perspectives

HERDS is a sublime band of musicians from the United Kingdom. They don’t let the dictates of genres constrain their sonic horizon. Each track is scattered with diverse influences and provenance to form conceptual masterpieces. The band has released their debut EP, ‘Falling Wide Awake’ in which they regard the theme with dazing and dream perspectives. The result is an eclectic and enigmatic array of alt rock, americana, and psychedelia. Listen Now!

The album is introduced by ‘Innsbruck’. It is a hazy rock sphere with warping distortions and shoegaze spreads. The vocal line is slightly experimental, muted against an ocean luminous riffs and bass lines. It links the innovative spreads of Pink Floyd with the emotional quotients of Linkin Park. Next up is ‘Station of the cross’. The track instantly springs with americana. With strident acoustic strokes and sentimental baritones, the track is as classic and simple as it gets. As it progresses, it commands a grander energy and a greater sphere with smoky riff frames and a whole lot of fuzzy aftermath.

‘Half Light’ is an evocative acoustic track. Forming against a vacuous backdrop, its blues gleam with utter tragedy and deep melancholy. ‘Just the Rain’ revives the energy with punching beats, springing riffs, and energetic baritones. Underpinned by country and americana elements, the alt rock track seamlessly goes in and out of genres.

‘Strange Caravans’ is another country song. But it is fathomed with a whole new vision. It is a minimalistic and a very sparing soundscape. Populated with stray lines of molten acoustics and melancholic vocal curves, listening to it feels like you’re watching the night sky. The gentle streaks of light and the ruminative blues are very enjoyable. ‘Faith’ comes in with some grit and some punk. The band skillfully uses their textures as uppers in the pop-rock melody.

‘New Year’ has a slow instrumental swell. The melodic rock song is affecting in its dilated vocal lines and plush lines in a way that is reminiscent of The Beatles. The album concludes with ‘Avalanche’. The combination of wrangly acoustics, mellow vocal poetry, and feel-good rhythm is such a high. It is lines with retro blues in a way that takes you back to artists like The Mountain Goats and Bob Dylan.
