Review: Electrons In Slow Motion - Flood Gates

The multifaceted Marius Copel is based in Bucharest, Romania. As a musician, he is Electrons In Slow Motion (EISM) but his activity goes much further - he is a visual artist and also the artistic director of Cinepolitica, one of the very few political film festivals in the world.

“Flood Gates” is the second EP on EISM’s discography, which is fulfilled by two albums and two singles, for labels such as the Canadian D.M.T. Records or the Argentinian Sonido Atmosferico Ediciones, just to name a few.

“Flood Gates” was released on February 18th by Mare Nostrum Label. It is presented as an abstract and fleeting meditation on the fragility of our human identity and the perils of ignorance and unnecessary aggression towards nature. Each track presents itself as a fictional “cardinal point” gate, containing it’s own propelling images and emotions: from deep, to glacial, to magnetic, to the wide-open spaces. In this brand new work, Marius Copel looks at the transformations and instability that our planet is suffering at the hands of humans. This state of consciousness was the starting point for the creation of the EP and the result is four musical pieces distinguished by an incredible sensibility. Four chapters of a dramatic story, in a musical journey based on ambient electronics, which sometimes takes us back to minimalist classical music. Marius Copel proves his mastery as a composer and creator of sound images. An EP not to be missed!
