Review: Buddog18 - Expermerntal Belladonna

It is common to say that in art there is nothing new, everything has already been invented. With the huge amount of music that is made today, combined with the accumulation of years and years of various experimentation, one often gets the feeling that almost all contemporary music production sounds like something familiar, that has already been heard somewhere. Buddog18's music, however, is one of the freshest things I've heard this decade.

The motto of this review is the track "Expermerntal Belladonna", but it is impossible to ignore Buddog18's journey and the intense musical creation of his repertoire. His music is only available on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. When visiting his Bandcamp page, we found 50 entries, five dozen releases starting in December 2019 with the album "Pareidolia may be safely ignored.", the perfect business card to perceive the richness and peculiarity of Buddog18's musical universe. An album that has the title of one of its tracks "This track legit scares me." cannot fail to be heard!

And this is where "Expermerntal Belladonna" appears: a track created around a synthetic, slow and choppy beat. With manipulations of various kinds, delays explored to the fullest, with a saturated sound, almost bursting. It's a piece of experimental electronics, with hints of noise, but it still keeps a cool vibe. An addictive track, hallucinogenic like the plant on its title.

Using only analogue machines in his setup, instilling a good dose of dark humor and spontaneity in everything he does, with a "fuck the system" attitude, Buddog18 is a genius creature, a hidden treasure ready to be unearthed.
