Plastic Barricades has built a sound that is vibrant and full of life with their latest single “Second-hand Dreams”. This track has lyrics that convey a potent message that is introspective in its tone. Meditating on the banalities of life and how the rat race of everyday life diminishes and grinds down dreams to nothing this song delivers its thematic message through its lyrics with a powerful punch to the gut. The vocal performance that carries these lyrics is nothing short of spectacular with a warm and dreamy feeling to them that gives this sign a dynamic and replayable character propagating it to one of my favourites.
Building the ambience of this track is the instrumentation that is sublime in its quality with the mix being rich and full-bodied delivering a satisfying sound to your ears. Driven by guitars and synths this song is wonderfully crafted with melodic fills and nuances that stick with you. The drums are steady and authoritative in nature, holding the mood of this song together with the tempo. All of this results in a soundscape that is simply stellar and one you can easily find yourself lost in with very little effort. This is the type of song that you can simply close your eyes and let the music take control, and you will be rewarded with pure auditory ecstasy. Plastic Barricades is incredibly talented and their music deserves your love and attention.
