Built with a blend of Americana, of the country sound, and occasionally a touch of folk, ‘Still, The World’ by PoeTreeman is a delicately made album, with both softness and power riding the tracks, and bringing about a beautiful balance and idea of what it feels like to be a human being full of heart and soul.
The first song on the album ‘Wherever You Are’ brings with it the sound that is woven into each song on the record. The song starts off incredibly gently, the violins, the soft thumping from the percussion adding such beautiful textures to the track. The song is brimming with hope and gratitude that comes with the influence of the love of someone that feels like a God’s own intervention. ‘Edge of the World’ takes on a total shift from the first track, bringing in a rugged Americana-country blend track. The overall tone of the song is one of unbridled optimism, the kind that you cannot stay immune to. Guitars with incomparable personalities rule this track.
‘It’s My Bad’ takes on a different sound yet again, with a country-pop sound driving it. It is magnetic, it is full of soul and stunning imagery that will have you yearning and longing inevitably. The chorus sections are so powerful and evocative. ‘The Art of Being Alone’ shifts back to that raw Americana sound, which by now seems like the underlying thread connecting all tracks. This one has a more enigmatic, hard-hitting tone, and employs key shifts that work super well. ‘Kind Heart’ lies in a sweet spot between the energetic and the soft, gentle tracks. It has a steady groove which grounds the track as it traverses its musical path, employing layers and adding on lushness. This one might remind you of Noah Kahan’s music, owing to the guitar work employed.
Starting off in an unexpected manner, with female vocals coming in strong and evocatively, ‘Love Paradigm’ leans toward a more country-rock sound, with swirling, emotive electric guitars, thumping drum patterns that give the song its power. With the American-country blend sound coming in again to grace the album, ‘Gonna Be Alright’ will aim at that warm, fuzzy feeling that your heart is capable of and will have it spread across your senses. ‘Hold on Babe’ brings with it a super fun, funky and groovy sound, reminding you of early 2000s rock, and will undoubtedly put you on a bandwagon of nostalgia. Moving from there and moving towards a close, ‘Moon’s Ache’ is carried by a soft Americana sound that also seems to be bringing in light folk sound elements. The song has a distinct reflective quality to its lyrics and its sound, and will remind you of dark nights lit by a full moon. Tying up the album with gentility, ‘By Thunder’ is a deeply solitary song, densely yet spaciously filled with the mind and its reflection and introspection.
