This edition of LITM Singer-Songwriter Picks features the vulnerable musings of acts like Niamh Maclennan, Jon Gold and Caitty!
1. Niamh Maclennan - Your Sign
‘Your Sign’ by Niamh Maclennan is a calm, groovy track with moments of subtle, bright clarity. The track feels like an ode to life and staying anchored to the present moment, with light, joy and a vulnerable undertone.
“...Baby, slow down. Take this as your sign tonight…”. The instrumentation’s subtle build highlights this sense of lightness. It's a sound that feels like being suspended on a warm summer day, where time seems to move a little slower. Where possibilities are endless, and life seems calm yet fuller. It sounds like a vulnerable callback to a time when things felt as warm, sticky but comforting as this.

2. Jon Gold - Lullaby for a Dream
‘Lullaby for a Dream’ by Jon Gold and Ditty Wish is a haunting track with a dramatic flair that only ramps up as the song goes on. Its orchestral arrangement and lilting lyrics tell a story that feels distant and airy.
It takes a moment for the song to fully sink in, evoking a sense of wonder that only seems to elevate the track and its mood. The vocals imbue the track with a haunting chill. This paired with lyrics that feel otherworldly give off this feel as though the song’s a fairytale. Where one can immerse themselves and “...wander into the circle of wonder…”.

3. Caitty - The pieces that you left
‘The pieces that you left’ by Caitty is a bittersweet track that takes on the tone of a lover immersed in their lonely longing. Our narrator watches as the person they love falls and blossoms into love quickly, almost as soon as they let our narrator go.
“...Like a mistake to be amended…”. In their musings, our narrator seems lost in heartaching spirals, trying to make sense of the discard while putting on a tough, brave face. In moments of intense, the narrator questions, “...was I so easy to forget?…”. It's a song borne from heartache, longing, and incredulity.
