Camrose - Break the Chains

Bringing in the spirit of 80s rock ballad, ‘Break the Chains’ by Camrose is the perfect song for your long drives out of town. The instrumentation is weaved through threads of nostalgia, which makes the arrangement a greatly memorable one. Simple guitars, a steady drum pattern, and a piano progression which gives the track a level of sweetness, characterise the musical arrangement of the track. The track also features eighties-esque guitar solos which add such great textures. Lyrically, the song tells us a whole story and warns us against living in a similar manner, and urges us to “break the chains” and “break their hearts” and do what feels right and be free.

Daydrunk - Arithmetic

Starting off with an intricate guitar playing, ‘Arithmetic’ by Daydrunk feels like staring up at an evening sky full of coloured clouds, deeply reminiscing. The instrumentation is beautifully crafted, full of distinct layers that come together in such a lovely manner. The song moves through beautiful shifts and progressions, keeping you hooked to it and excited for what’s to come. In all the moves that it does, the track remains consistent with its emotional quotient. Lyrically, the song explores the idea of having your child and then having to face the potential of their loss – feelings that are entirely unparalleled to any other.

Twonees - Bison

Bringing together folk and country to create an unforgettable sound, ‘Bison’ by Twonees is the kind of song that deserves to reach far corners of the world. With a musicality so intricate, the song feels like a treasure box if you listen intently, for it has something new to give you each time you listen to it. With stunning guitar work coming together with grounding drum patterns, and touch of a deeply emotive violin playing, the song will have you utterly obsessed. The song showcases shifts in pace that come through impressively. The solo section that comes towards the end is absolutely mindblowing. The song has similarities with Hozier’s work, owing to similar folkish genres.

Allison Preisinger - The Woman Who Collaborates

Bringing in the idea of a woman’s deep connection with nature and its movements, ‘The Woman Who Collaborates’ by Allison Preisinger makes you realise endlessly just how magical a woman’s soul is. The song is entirely acoustic guitar driven, and this simple instrumentational choice allows for the song’s themes to be at the forefront so that it may be conveyed to the listener effectively. Allison’s ethereal vocals truly taps into that mystical aspect of a woman’s life as she navigates her existence and finds relation in nature. If you are a woman you must absolutely listen to this song, and if you aren’t one you must still listen to it to appreciate the women in your life more.

James Darcy - Before it's time to leave

Bringing to you a sonic atmosphere that you’ll want to drown your senses in, ‘Before it's time to leave’ by James Darcy is a deeply moving, deeply real song that you will find speaking to you. The instrumentation starts out with a deeply emotive, reflective piano progression which soon gets added onto by atmospheric synths and equally emotive guitars and a gentle percussion. The soundscape is quite cinematic and grand in its approach at capturing the seemingly unglamorous parts of life. Darcy’s vocals are steeped in emotion, a quiet yet profound vulnerability that undoubtedly will manage to reach into your heart and pull at your heartstrings.
