South Swell Syndicate - Go Where I Please
Taking you to the land of shores and sea right from the first note, ‘Go Where I Please’ by South Swell Syndicate is an undoubtable, immediate mood lifter. The song very clearly is influenced by Caribbean reggae sound, and it does complete justice to that iconic sound and rhythms. The guitars in the song are a welcome surprise, in that they operate in a very unexpected manner, but nevertheless gel in with the classic reggae sound smoothly. The retro travel commentary adds a great touch to the sound’s overall sound, making it a complete musical journey from start to finish.
The Rotor Delta - Feel Alive
Taking you to the sound world of the 90s, ‘Feel Alive’ by The Rotor Delta emerges from certain lost tapes that were locked away for 26 years. The instrumentation is a beautiful riot, and that is an understatement. The guitars, the super dynamic drums, are simply exceptional, and make you utterly hooked to the song. The ebb and flow employed in the song feel like a reflection of the different array of emotions that come togethr in the song. The solo section is absolutely mind-blowing and will have you rewinding the song immediately, just as I did. The song will remind you of the Smashing Pumpkins, if they were also influenced by 70s blues rock a certain amount.
Wholes - Berlin
Dominated by a dark electronic rock sound that evokes tones of the haunting, the enigma, thus embodying the goth sound, ‘Berlin’ by Wholes is something you cannot miss if you enjoy dark, goth influenced music. The guitar work in the song is psychedelic, and so unsettling, but is perfectly apt for the track. The distortion that acts as the background for the track concretises the haunting feel of the song. The solo section with the raw, rugged distorted guitars and pounding drums seal the emotive quality of the track. The vocals in the song entirely give in to the mood that the instrumentation brings about, and becomes one with it. You must give it a listen if you enjoy this kind of music, or to try something new, because I promise that this track won’t disappoint.
JJ and The Mystics - Veritas
Starting off with a fiery, magnetic energy, ‘Veritas’ by JJ and The Mystics is a song filled with hope and optimism with regards to the world and its ways, despite the current times, because it is always possible to find the light in the dark. The rugged sound of the song lies in contradiction to the themes of the song, but then if those themes are looked at from a different perspective, then the instrumentation can be read as energy and ruggedness towards the idea of life. The guitar work in the song is the absolute highlight and is simply impeccable. Housing bright and hopeful perceptions of life alongside vibrant and raw rock instrumentation, this one is sure to pull you out of any blues that you might be feeling.
Cyberswamp - Mi Amada
Latin musical elements driving the song in a contemporary fashion, ‘Mi Amada’ by Cyberswamp is brimming with love, longing and yearning, and you don’t have to understand the language to be able to locate those emotions. The song can be said to be occupying a Latin rock-pop sound. The electric guitar solo playing in the song is so, so good and makes the song and all its encompassing emotions transcendental. There is a touch of reverb that has been woven into the song which makes the song even more lighter and expansive.The vocals are drenched in vulnerability and honesty, as they lend such flow and smoothness to the track.
