LITM Rock Picks Featuring Siren, WOOF, The Streetlights and More!

This edition of LITM Rock Picks will give you a range of tracks, from cinematic orchestral rock to futuristic rock, from which you can pick your new favourite rock track. The list features artists Siren, WOOF, The Streetlights, and more.

Siren - Siren Heroine

Alluring, haunting, and hypnotic, ‘Siren Heroine’ by Siren feels like surrendering yourself to the waves with a smile on your face. The ethereal vocal elements in the song resemble an orchestra, and this adds to the already rich texture of the song that is characterised by dense bass, hypnotic electric guitar riffs. All of these add a cinematic touch to the song. The song holds both lightness and heaviness within it. The lightness comes from the soft, swirling, dream-like vocals and the heaviness is contributed by the dense instrumentation. One thing that we can most definitely promise is that you will be hooked to the song, and will come back to it many, many times.

WOOF - Bedtime Story

Fast paced synth beats opening the song, ‘Bedtime Story’ by WOOF brings to you a dark, broody soundscape that you can lose yourself in. The song has a generous amount of reverb added to the soundscape, which adds to the sinking, brooding feeling. Thematically, the song is coloured by a sense of yearning, longing, that comes from wanting someone you know you can’t have. There is no polishing done of the vocals, which keeps intact the vulnerability and rawness of the track. The song might remind you of the music of Eyedress, especially the track titled Jealous. You should absolutely give this one a listen for something that strays away from the conventional polished vocals and music.

The Streetlights - Something More

Starting off with an airy, vibrant guitar riff, ‘Something More’ by The Streetlights will take you back to the late 90s or the early 2000s rock scene. Though it starts out all bright and happy, descends into a sombre soundscape which is characterised by emotive layered guitars and steady drums which build the intensity of the track. The song might remind you of the discography of The Killers, owing to similar moody, emotive songs. The song is very catchy, with memorable hooks and a bridge that will stay with you long after the last note of the track plays out.

Fringe Frontier - City of Dreams

With soft, warm guitar riffs introducing the track to us, ‘City of Dreams’ by Fringe Frontier will make its way into your heart with its beautiful simplicity. The song largely leans towards soft rock, and its easy breezy instrumentation feels like driving through the “city of dreams” with the windows down, taking in all that the city has to offer. The happy guitars, the happy drum patterns, and of course the happy vocals really do a lot to lift your spirits and fill you up with light and spark.Reverb drenched guitars also make surprise entries every now and then. Warm and oozing with all the feel-good vibes there is, this song will be the perfect company to your long drives.

Nate Todd - Tellus

Shimmering, dream-like synths starting off the track, ‘Tellus’ by Nate Todd will leave you in awe of its unique soundscapes. The song sounds like what a Beatles track meeting contemporary sound equipment would sound like. With the muffled vocals layered with crisp guitars and percussion and also the surprising synths, the song has a futuristic quality to it, like you’re entering a world that’s years and years from your own. The sound of the song complements the themes of the song, as it talks about the earth and its journey – all that it was and all that it has lost.
