This edition of LITM Rock Picks brings to you powerful 80s hard rock, ethereal, melancholic rock, and more. The list features PRJCT MGR, DESCIENDA, Blessed Child Opera, and more.
PRJCT MGR - Capitalize
An absolutely magnetic and hypnotic bassline starting off the track, ‘Captalize’ by PRJCT MGR in collaboration with Nora June takes over your mind with its psychedelic sound that seems to be jumping about and through worlds. The bassline, as mentioned, is a superpower in the song, and gives it that menacing quality, at least to one part of the song. The song then moves into a super cheery fairy tale-ish, Disney sound and then back into bassline heavy sound. It then moves into a rugged, distorted nu-metal sound that you absolutely do not see coming. Unpredictable in every sense of the word, this song is a sonic experience that needs to be had.
DESCIENDA - Luz
Heavy, raw, and eccentric, ‘Luz’ by DESCIENDA feels like a ride into a dystopian world, where all order has been lost, and anguish is everywhere. The instrumentation is urgent, restless, with depth embedded into every single riff and electronic synth note – the ruggedness of the song does not take away from the emotionality of the song and instead deeply enhances it. The vocals are haunting to say the least, as they sound so delicate and fragile yet powerful in that fragility, and stand in total contradiction to the extremely layered, distorted instrumentation. If you are willing to skip the same old in the current rock scene, then you must absolutely give this one a listen.
Blessed Child Opera - I will no longer be here
Drenched in melancholy and ethereality from start to the very finish, ‘I will no longer be here’ by Blessed Child Opera sounds like a blend of varying yet connected worlds. The instrumentation takes on a celtic folk sound and blends it with a 90s goth rock sound. The song moves through shifts constantly, keeping the listener utterly hooked regarding what is to come. The vocals are powerful, they are emotional, and they sound like they emerge from a place of truth and knowing. Songs like these come once in a while, and show what music can be capable of, so you should not miss out on this one.
Duke Moody - Wretched People
A 2000s alt-rock, Brit Pop blend sound driving the track, ‘Wretched People’ by Duke Moody is full of truths and it is full of the best of vibes and grooves. The instrumentation is truly magnetic, and the rhythms get hooked onto your brain and have you humming to yourself even the guitar riffs. The distorted, radio textured vocals layered upon normal vocals give the song very interesting textures. The song might particularly make you think of Oasis, and the sound elements they employed in their music. Enjoyable, and thoroughly so, from start to finish, you must absolutely give this one a listen.
Nasty Passion - Nasty
Raw, rugged, and real, ‘Nasty’ by Nasty Passion feels like a burst of all the energy that you did not think music these days could be capable of. The song might just wake something up in you that has been buried and repressed for way too long, such is its sound. Fiery, electrifying, eclectic guitars come together with fast-paced drum patterns to give the song its stormy sound. The bassline in the song is so menacing, so enigmatic, and will send chills down your spine, because it's so well done. The vocals take you back to the hard rock days of the 80s inevitable, and make you think of bands like Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and more. You are truly missing out on something truly phenomenal as long as you don’t click on that ‘play’ button.
