1. Molto Non Troppo- The Top of the Ladder
‘The Top of the Ladder’ is one of those songs that expertly uses chord shifts that hit the right spot. It’s a progressive rock track that leans more towards jazz, producing a mix of moody atmospheres, from tense to euphoric to contemplative. Visually, the track feels like a blend of warm and cool tones. The arrangement itself is fresh and unpredictable, and the artist plays with rhythm as well as tones, making it enjoyable for casual listeners and musicians alike. The vocals bring in a clean texture which disperses splendidly when harmonies spring in, while the instruments subtly serve with riffs and flourishes throughout. The overall track is eclectic and cerebral, definitely one that’ll flood your senses.
2. Kindness Inc. – Seventeen
This track mixes old soul and youthful gaze. It’s a great track to have on repeat if you enjoy rock and post-punk with experimental tones. The track takes the listener through a dense series of instrumentation and a hazy atmosphere with feverishly long sustain notes. The soundscape draws you in by keeping the vocal layer at a similar volume as the instruments, and with the mildly discordant notes, you can fully lock into a mild trance. The lyrics are nostalgic, while the vocals are sombre and passionate. It’s a song you can instantly connect to; listen here—
3. SPONSIAN- The Big Disconnect
Alternative Metal band SPONSIAN thrills with a smoky ambiance and crackling guitars in their latest track, ‘The Big Disconnect’. The song is quite experimental and feels like a feverish swirl from start to finish. The high-octane arrangement isn’t afraid to test limits, especially with the guitars, which immediately zone in with riffs. Atop that layer sits a vocal layer that moves through foggy and grainy terrain, while another set of vocals unleashes ungodly metallic screams in the background. No one holds back in this track. All in all, it’s a terrific listen!
4. Jo Millett- It Hurts
This is one of those tracks that feels visceral and cathartic, with emotionally and visually descriptive lyrics and a power-packed performance. The track starts off timid but slowly builds up the tension until it reaches the chorus, where we get an explosive release. The vocals are expressive and you can really feel the emotional jolts that the singer conveys. The instrumentation swirls and ripples; on one side, you have the drums unleashing the pent-up energy from the verses, while the guitars channel the cathartic energy of the singer into a controlled chaos. Overall, a high-octane and engaging song; give it a listen here—
5.Burton Badman- No Way Out
Another song with a funky, experimental beat is ‘No Way Out’. It’s an alternative track that’s got addictive guitar riffs and drum fills. As a listener, you get taken through a sporadic soundscape with glassy textures that turn gravelly and then electric. The arrangement also uses electronic tones interspersed throughout the track, while the guitar solo at the end is satisfying and quite memorable. The vocals bounce between bright and dark, and the lyrics “You must destroy everything” sum up the mood of the track. Overall, it’s a solid composition with a genre-bending vibe.
