LITM Rock Picks Featuring Joseph Schwartz, SEHORE, Clay Brown and More!

Bringing together songs that talk about the world at large, to songs that allude to the collapses of relationships and what comes after, this edition of LITM Rock Picks will present a good amount of range. The list features artists Joseph Schwartz, SEHORE, Clay Brown, and more.

Joseph Schwartz - Ready for doom

Taking you back to the cinematic rock tracks from the early 2000s, ‘Ready for doom’ by Joseph Schwartz feels like a soundtrack for a dystopian film. The song brings together amazing musicality and amazing storytelling, making for a track that is a top listening experience. The song deals with intense themes and the soundscape of the song complements these themes perfectly. The song is a stark political commentary under the guise of religious metaphors, and this is simply amazing songwriting skills. A conceptually heavy song while being musically sound, this song should be on your playlist to widen your palate as soon as possible.

SEHORE - Bla bla bla - Cha cha cha

If the theater of the absurd was turned into a song, then ‘Bla bla bla - Cha cha cha’ by SEHORE would no doubt be that track. Instrumentally the song rises and falls, with tension coming in and going out, but lyrically the track has no lyrics except for the continuous singing of bla bla bla. The song makes no attempt at conforming to the norm of what a song mostly is, and experiments with genres, like rock and funk, and does what it wants to do with its lyricism. An interesting listen for sure because it will make you realise that you don’t always need long, winding, meaningful lyrics to enjoy a song.

Clay Brown - No Place

Electric guitars starting off with a reflective tone, ‘No Place’ by Clay Brown is the heartfelt rock track you didn’t know you needed. The instrumentation, which is largely guitar driven,  of the song shifts and moves in phases, as it picks up pace in parts and then loosens itself in other parts. Lyrically, the song alludes to the mental fatigue one feels after getting out of a relationship and attempting to build a connection with someone new, making the theme of the song that is universally relatable. If guitar driven rock tracks that are vulnerable and honest is something that you enjoy, don’t miss out on this track.

RISE - Lost for Words

80s synth energy going strong, ‘Lost for Words’ by RISE is the perfect blend of groove and emotional depth that will have you moving while feeling the lyrics to the core. While it echoes the 80s synthpop energy, it also adds to its soundscape modern rock elements that give the song a very fresh flavour. Lyrically, the song addresses the end of a relationship but deciding to move ahead despite it, instead of letting it paralyze you and your life. The guitar solo at 2:44 minutes and one at the end will have you in awe of it. Without a doubt you will find yourself returning to this track many many times after your first listen.

New Nobility - Stop The Earth

With a magnetic guitar riff opening the track, ‘Stop The Earth’ by New Nobility will consume you with its punchy, urgent rhythms. From start to finish, the song does not abandon its magnetic, hypnotic rhythms, and this is contributed by the dynamic guitars and the equally dynamic percussions in the song. Lyrically, the song reflects the want to hit the pause button on all and everything in this exceedingly urgent world that can get so overwhelming and harmful sometimes. The vocals are full of warmth, and the weight of emotion and passion, which helps you feel close to the song. You will not regret hitting on the play button on this song, and that’s a guarantee.
