Haus of Sound - Madness
Swirling synths kicking off the song, ‘Madness’ by Haus of Sound will take you back to the synth-pop sound of the 2000s while having a polish of the rock genre all over it. Layered instruments reminiscent of the 80s electronic rock give the song its personality, featuring swelling synths, punchy basslines, and sharp guitars. This personality also has a major contribution from the dynamic female vocals that carry the song, which might remind you of Lady Gaga’s vocals. Nostalgic and yet substantially modern, this song is meant to be put on and every note of it is meant to be felt and enjoyed.
Venice Treacle - The Glass
Jumpy beats starting off the track, ‘The Glass’ by Venice Treacle feels like a fall through a colourful swirling rabbithole. With a very retro late 70s to 80s sound when psychedelia rock was all the rage, the song can feel like a trip down the lane of nostalgia with regards to musical genres. Psychedelia elements drive the song with its use of short, fast guitar notes and layering of riffs that sound very different from one another, and last but not the least the echoey vocals which give off a hypnotic air. Fresh and unique, this song is an absolute must listen.
Tom Elliot - Love Is A Dog From Hell
Sharing its title with the renowned Charles Bukowski poetry collection, Tom Elliot’s ‘Love Is A Dog From Hell’ is an indie-punk track packed with emotion and groove. The song takes on a minimalistic approach in its production, with fuzzy, dusty guitars and a steady rhythm that drives the track. This minimalist take allows the vulnerability in the song shine through Elliot’s vocals. The song isn’t overly polished or edited, and has a live performance sound to it. The song is tightly wound, keeping the emotional elements intact and composed. The saying “less is more” goes perfectly with regards to this song.
Stereo Silence - The Strange
Glitchy static sounds giving a headstart for the atmosphere of the song, ‘The Strange’ by Stereo Silence is full of energy and swagger. Pounding drums clubbed with jagged guitars give the song a sound of urgency and youthful restlessness. The vocals are full of confidence and contribute majorly to the track’s overall persona. The solo section in the middle will have you hitting the like button on the track the moment it comes around. Although the song evokes an urgent energy, the song feels stable and grounded as it doesn’t go overboard in displaying that sense of urgency. Give this one a listen as soon as possible because it has every potential to become a new favourite.
The Theos Variant - Beacons
The latest track by The Theos Variant, ‘Beacons’ is a mellow alternative rock track that is as full of depth as it is musically brilliant. Starting off with haunting vocals, the song then brings in layers of guitars, synths and drums. Immersive and atmospheric, the song evokes an emotional darkness. Pounding drums, emotive soaring guitars supporting the dynamic vocals which carry the weight of the majority of the emotion the song evokes. Think of Deftones meeting Breaking Benjamin and that will be the energy this song gives off. A haunting alt-rock emotional rollercoaster, this track is sure to give you goosebumps just its intensity.
