bridget mariie - DIALTONE

Haunting piano and equally haunting vocals starting off the track, bridget mariie’s ‘DIALTONE’ makes for a sombre sounding song about living in the shadows in a relationship. The touch of reverb in the vocals further intensifies the haunting atmosphere the song creates. One layer of the song moves slowly while the level with percussion moves with a quick tempo, creating a sort of erratic vibe that mirrors what the song is about. The lyrics evoke a sense of being tired with what’s been happening, because of which honestly spills without restrain. “You either see me or you don’t / And I’m right in front of you / The next time you look straight through me / I’ll be in the rearview” shed light on feeling invisible in a relationship and finally choosing to leave. A unique listening experience, the song will pull you into its introspective cloud.

3rd Deck - Fallout

Starting off in an explosive manner and maintaining the intensity till the end, 3rd Deck’s ‘Fallout’ features gritty guitar riffs that are beautifully layered to create a highly energetic composition. Delving with the concept of dealing with the hard times in life and being “in the fallout” the song is loudly emotional. The song is exploratory, as it goes about analysing and making conclusions and the lyrics “I’ve waited for things to change / And I’ve been patient through the fall / I watched the system degrade” are a testament to that. Alternative rock with enough influence of the post punk genre is evident throughout the song, making the song sound like one of Green Day’s. The song is sure to be an instant favourite of yours, if that sort of genre blending sounds interesting to you.

Social Gravy - These Are the Times

Warmth exuding from the very first note to the last one, ‘These Are the Times’ by Social Gravy is a song that will remind you of the nice fuzzy feelings during the start of a new love. Retro rock and roll influences are solid in the track, and it might remind you of The Verve or even some Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The harmonies in the song are beautifully done, with the a touch of the choir sound strong in them, which gives the song a very jolly feel.“You put the wind in my sails / I lean into you glory” If you are looking for some fresh Rock and Roll then this is the song you need to listen to, because Social Gravy has done so well with this one.

Head Sound - Hyperion

Muffled, noisy electric guitars starting out the track, and then launching headfirst in a solid alt-rock sound, Head Sound’s will become a favourite on your playlist from the first listen. Reverb plays a center stage role in the song, giving the song an immersive atmosphere. The dreamy air around the song is intensified by the occasional edited vocals. Lyrically the song is written around the idea of the greatest things having small beginnings, which is one of the biggest truths in life. This indie rock track will have you listening to it on late nights when you stay up late by yourself, wondering about the many questions that life throws at you.

Steve Puddle and his Bivouac Band - The Losing Game

Gentle guitars starting off the song, Steve Puddle and his Bivouac Band’s ‘The Losing Game’ is a song about everything that we’ve experienced growing up in this tough world. The song takes on the indie rock sound with alt-folk and dream pop, which makes the song very warm and inviting, putting you on the bandwagon of nostalgia and reflections. “You only win if winning isn’t part of the goal” sings Steve Puddle highlighting that you truly win when you work with utmost passion instead of just eyeing success. Just as you think the song is ending, the song takes a turn and throws itself into a wonderful solo, keeping you on the nostalgia wagon a little longer.
