Aria Mody - Made In India

Pop music at its best, 17 year old Aria Mody’s ‘Made In India’ features everything that makes a song a hit on the charts. The song features lyrics in Hindi along with English, making it one that will automatically appeal to different cultures all around the globe. Composition wise, there are clear influences from the Indian music scene, making it one that’s rooted in Mody’s native culture along with having a worldwide appeal. Lyrically, the song runs along the lines of young infatuation and how it can seem to take over your world. A vibrant song with an infectious groove, you will surely find yourself humming the tune as you go about your day.

CELINE - Let Me Breathe

Honest vulnerability mixed with layered synth pop melodies, ‘Let Me Breathe’ by CELINE explores the concept of feeling suffocated within your life and trying to fight it. The track starts with sentimental piano notes layers with impactful synth notes.  At 1:26 minutes the song makes a shift from the piano notes, with electronic beats taking control of the section. CELINE’s smooth, emotive vocals will tug at your heartstrings. “I’ve been holding onto nothing / Losing every piece of me / Tell me how to stop this hurting”  sheds light on the helplessness one feels when the grief feels larger than you. This song will appeal to everyone, considering that all of us have felt this way at some point in our lives.

Estrada music project - We are not God

Starting off in an interesting way, with sirens going off and a catchy bassline coming in, Estrada music project’s ‘We are not God’ is a unique sounding pop song with some goth elements. Erratic synth notes are spread throughout the track, which complement the urgency that the song evokes. The song deals with the limitations of humankind, specifically in the medical arena, where sometimes medical professionals are viewed as people who should be capable of solving everything. The lyric “Just remember we are not God” playing repeatedly lays emphasis on the essence of the track. A song that delves with a topic you might have never come across before, ‘We Are Not God’ is definitely an interesting listening experience.

Anacy - It’s Not You

Delving with the idea of constantly being stuck in a paranoia that makes one leave before being left, ‘It’s Not You’ by Anacy is an extremely vulnerable track, with lyrics that will have you reaching for tissues. The pulse like percussion and synths help build a tension and maintain it throughout the length of the song. “But I knew it from the moment we met / That I’d be the lover that you’d learn to regret” shares the inability one feels with regards to changing ones’ ways with relationships. Anacy’s track shares similarities with Fleurie’s music, owing to the gut wrenchingly emotive lyrics driven by a synth powered melody.

Leeds - Golden Fields Of Sheffield

Starting off with a beautiful piano sound and the chirping of birds that will immediately take you back to the summers of your younger days, ‘Golden Fields Of Sheffield’ by Leeds is a song that you will find yourself daydreaming to. The instrumentation in the song is rich, making for a wholesome, warm listening experience. The percussion in the song is soft and subtle, maintaining a gentle atmosphere. The song deals with the idea of having a romantic view of a place, mostly one in your childhood, and wanting to go back there after dealing with the harsh realities of life. “I’m out of tune and old / Oh, take me on a trip where nothing has meaning in life / Well, take me on a trip where nothing is mine in time / Take me to the golden fields of Sheffield” reflects that idea beautifully.
