Michellar - Let’s go move around!

San-Francisco based artist Michellar’s single ‘Let’s go move around!’ exudes vibrance and optimism. A blend of synthpop and dreampop, the song takes you back to being young adults, spending your time in arcades and fairs, having the time of your lives. With its rich synth textures and jumpy guitar riffs, the song screams nostalgia for a time where it felt like anything was possible. That is exactly what the song aims to convey – “Let’s ride to our paradise/ It’s the only way to hypnotise our lives/ Let’s go and move around” – urging you to move around instead of being stuck in the same places and look for what life has to offer.

Zodiak - Cheat

Cheat by London based artist Zodiak pulls you into the world of the 80s electronic pop scene right from the first verse. With its masterfully designed synths and beats, it won’t be a surprise if the song takes over the dancefloors. The song dives into the sensitive, complex topic of infidelity. The lines “Now that you’re miles away/ All I’m trying to say is/ I swear that I was thinking of you,” reflect on the regret that comes with the act of infidelity. The sound that Zodiak creates in his song will definitely make you think of the soundscapes of Daft Punk. The song will be a sure hit among everyone who enjoys the retro inspired electro-pop sound, and will be one that is on repeat.

Donna Spelling - Window

Window by Tel-Aviv based artist Donna Spelling is something that you absolutely need on your playlists at the earliest. The song with its beautifully blended synth layers gives you a dreamy, ethereal experience – makes you feel like you’re speeding in your car through lights of the town in slow motion. The sound that Beach House is known for in their music, you’ll find similar tones in Donna Spelling’s Window - the lush ambience laden with dream pop.  A true musical experience, you cannot listen to this just once and forget it – the song makes sure it remains with you for a long, long time.

Francesca Pichierri - Gelo

Gelo by Francesca Pichierri is a haunting single from Pichierri’s album “Cellule Stronze.” The Italian singer-songwriter makes use of carefully crafted musical blends as she creates a poignant alternative-pop soundscape. The song starts out with a playful tone, which then gradually but quickly dips into a serious, sombre tone. She has piano that is sparsely spread throughout the song, with sombre horns that peak through once in a while, adding to the haunting ambience that is centre to the song, along with the strong vocals. The album, and thus, the song, is a tribute to Pichierri’s mother’s battle with cancer, making the work a powerful one packed to the full with emotion and angst.

LUNA - Wild West

With synths that you can’t help move along to, Polish singer-songwriter LUNA’s ‘Wild West’ is one that deserves to be up there on the electronic pop charts. LUNA’s vocal prowess comes through beautifully in the song. The song will make you think of Zara Larsson’s earlier works with its jumpy synths and rhythms. What comes completely unexpected is the sudden but oh so welcome shift in pitch at 1:57 minutes. Comparing the unpredictable and tough nature of the world to the wild west, claiming life to be “The real wild west,” LUNA’s fast paced tune packed with impactful rhythms automatically makes it one for the dancefloors.
